Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - upgrading to H classView Full Version : upgrading to H class azmmza Jul 1, 04, 12:40 am has any one had luck upgrading a m class ticket to H class at check in? is it up to the agent? does cx have a policy with regards to this? thanks daniellam Jul 1, 04, 1:11 am From reading your post, I am assuming you want to get AAdvantage miles. Is this a ticket purchased from a travel agent/consolidator? (since it is in "M" class) I don't think it is possible to "upgrade" from M class to H class at the airport as the M class fare is likely to be one of those "contract" fares offered by a consolidator (making it difficult to calculate fare difference etc.) The only way to "upgrade" from M class to H class would be to ask your travel agent to do an "upsell" (expect to pay a few hundred dollars more [my estimate] eacy way). However, not all contracts allow an "upsell" to occur. In most cases, the only way an "upsell" to H class would occur would be if if M class is fully booked, and there is no K class available (to "upsell" to) for the flight you want. The following is a very old text file (from a few years back) from my TA AND IS ONLY AN EXAMPLE (this is for fares originating in Canada). APPLICATION ..ONEWAY NET SURCHARGE CANNOT BE DISCOUNTED.. Guy Betsy Jul 1, 04, 3:27 am You should check with your travel agent. Chances are that you bought a discounted economy class ticket which are not booked in H class. If your travel agent says , no, it cannot be done, then you'd have to purchase the published fare which is all in H, B and Y classes. AA2MM Jul 1, 04, 9:23 am If my memory is correct , from LA to HKG/Asia , to upsell from K to H is only $150US round trip...from K to B is around $500US round trip . I have never heard of an M class sold in the US . Ex Asia , yes . azmmza Jul 1, 04, 11:46 am i have not bought the ticket yet, it is a lax bkk via hkg the fare on expedia shows that it is m class, thus no aa miles. just wanted to know if the check in agent could do anything/charge me to upgrade to "H" Guy Betsy Jul 1, 04, 11:52 am If my memory is correct , from LA to HKG/Asia , to upsell from K to H is only $150US round trip...from K to B is around $500US round trip . I have never heard of an M class sold in the US . Ex Asia , yes . Consolidator fares ex-USA can be even in L, and K class. Not to mention the infamous S class which now bear no miles whatsoever. There are M classes available. You will not be able to upgrade to H class at the gate. You would need to do this before your ticket is purchased. azmmza Jul 1, 04, 3:14 pm thanks GB! |
