Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - Miles awarded on paid fare if use upgrade award?

Sorry ... basic question. What happens if I redeem my existing miles for an upgrade award to J class on Cathay?
Can I still get miles for my paid fare (in this case, Y class)?
Or do I not get any miles for the trip because its an award ticket (even though its only an upgrade and I've paid a Y class fare)?
