I was reading a TR about EI which mentioned that the said airline had chosen not to install centre overhead compartments in its A330 Premier Class and that got me thinking...

In a couple of days I will be taking my first flight on the new 34D configuration and after reading the aforementioned TR am hoping against hope that CX has installed centre overhead bins where the F section on the 34C used to be (F on the A340 did not have centre bins whereas I think - from memory - J on the 34C did) so information about that would be appreciated.

Also, as an aside - am I correct in the murky memory that passengers transiting in Hong Kong are not required to complete Health Declarations?

Cheers.

No need for filling out a health declaration form. You will have to go through a body temperature check.

I had a renovated 2-class 34D twice in the past month. I thought there were centre overhead bins. I hope I am wrong.... I agree no overhead bins are nice at the centre. I thought SQ also had an Airbus model without centre overhead bins in business class.

Sorry to disappoint. I flew the A34D aircraft from HKG to AKL last month. There are overhead bins stretching from Door 1 to Door 2.

Actually that's good news :)

While I agree with Chiangi that it's nicer not to have centre bins, it really only works practically when the cabin is small (like the 8-seat F cabin). I wasn't too keen on fighting for overhead compartment space with 29 other J pax, most of whom will probably be toting oversize pieces to avoid having to check luggage.

Thanks for the info - much appreciated.
