Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - Too late for Upgrade Reward Request?

Is there a cutoff for requesting a Biz class upgrade reward using Miles? I have an upcoming flt on July 1. Is it too late?

I think you need 10 days at least. They need this to deliver the upgrade voucher to your address.

If you insist, MPC will handle it up to four to three days before departure. You will probably be asked to pay an expedite handling fee for that, about 30 USD? forgot the exact amount. In this case, they will telex the station you are flying from and you can pick up the MCO voucher there. (They will either have it prepared at check-in or will write one on the spot.)

If you are originating in HKG, you can also apply for upgrade at the service desk.

This spring I took three flights on economy class tickets to burn some miles. There was no upgrade availablility on any of these flights beforehand. I was a Gold member then. On all of the flights returning to HKG I could upgrade at check-in. I simply said I'd like to use miles to upgrade. I took 2 minutes to process and they handed me the blue boarding pass. On the outgoing flights I was lucky twice, once they just upgraded me without me saying anything, the other time there was a availability. Out of 6 flights I only suffered on one. This prompted me to worry less about prebooked upgrades in the future. Its a great way to get rid of my growing pile of miles. So in case you are past the deadline, try the walkup.In my experience, waiting lists NEVER clear unless you are Diamond.

Indicentially, the destinations by the way were FRA, SFO and LHR.

I am a Diamond MPC member, and I do the upgrades everytime in the Wing or the Pier. Then they collect my old boarding pass and hand me the new red one. :)

In this month, I called MPC hotline, requested an upgrade to business class
7 days before departure.
I was offered to pick up an upgrade voucher at NRT checkin counter.
Because of my Y class ticket was E-ticket, I showed my passport and MPC card, and got boarding pass, lounge invitation card, and voucher for return flight.

Unfortunately, business class booking was so tight at the time of booking,
Only middle seat of 747 (11E) was available for me.

Upgrades can be done within 24 hours of departure.. but only if it is a CX flight and they can verify the validity of your ticket by then. They will then issue a message to the originating CX airport who will issue your upgrade vouchers there.

Funnily enough, award tickets still need at least 7 days notice.. even CX flights.

Called CXMPC and Biz upgrade inventory is gone... agent told me to try at check-in.
