Details to follow, but let me say for now that the Sheraton at PVD airport is compliant with the terms and conditions. ^
Upgraded to a suite on a point stay. Got cont. breakfast certs too.

More to follow when I return.

A nice place.

This isn't the greatest SPG property off the back of the turnip truck, but I did spend a really interesting evening in the bar with a Southwest Airlines crew (cabin and flight deck) who were drinking like fish on a deeply discounted beverage price offered to them by the hotel. That was a fun evening.= :D !!!

On arrival, Rich at the front desk welcomed me as a Plat. "We've upgraded you to a suite." ^ Gave me appy certs for a snack since the club is closed on the weekend. Also gave me cont breakfast certs.

Rich said this hotel reviews who is staying at the property. He said gold gets club floor, and Plats get suites if available. 'Why shouldn't they?' he said. Maybe this quote could be sent to all the other hotels that don't understand the terms and conditions. ;)

From the outside this property looks blah. Inside is totally different. Rooms have been renovated, and have the very soft (my opinion :td: ) sweet sleeper bed.
The suite is just an extended room with an additional L-shape added to it. Round table, couch, and 2 chairs that my wife wanted to take home. :)
Can't complain staying on points (3000) for a weekend night.

Pool, health club, and a free computer in the lobby. ^ Coffee and pastry adjacent to the computer in the morning.

Property is probably walking distance to PVD. And it's 10-15 minutes downtown. By the way, the Westin looked great from the outside. It's right in the middle of the action so to speak.

If you have a car and want to drive to Newport, this The Sheraton PVD would be a good jumping off point to Newport RI. Expect to spend a full day in Newport...or more.

Good thing you used an award. I'm on business in RI at the moment and would like to stay here, but the rates are sky high.

Sorry, But I gotta disagree with you about the Providence Airport Sheraton. Although I stay there about 8-10 times a year (actually the most common property I stay at) I find the level of service there average on a good day. The hotel has a small club lounge, never staffed, and only catered to the bare bone. The rooms do have the new bed which is nice but even as a Plat, I could care less about the suites as they are really nothing to write home about. I find the airport view rooms the most quiet, and best sights. Be aware of the rooms near the elevators. The indoor pool is nice and staff generally friendly, but overall this place is just a late 70's hotel in disguise. Its a shame, it could be something great if they kept it cleaner and more up to date.

Things must have changed there. When I stayed there 5 years ago, it was some scary-dark place and they had no idea what they were supposed to treat a platinum member. Glad you had a nice stay, Dan!

Says something about the pathetic state of the Platinum upgrade program when we get excited about a hotel doing exactly what it is meant to.....:(
When threads like this aren't necessary then we will know they have finally got the program sorted and consistent.
