I'm thinking about staying at this Sheraton the night before an early morning flight out of Boston. I'm looking for comments about ease of getting to the airport for my flight. I also will need to get from Boston's South Station to the hotel. Also, are there any good places to eat within walking distance of this hotel?

Thanks for any information you can provide about this Sheraton property.

Yes, I stayed at the Four Points a few weeks ago. They have a shuttle to/from the airport. The ride takes about 10 minutes. In the morning to the airport it operates every 30 minutes. However, from the airport it operates "on call", so you have to use one of the courtesy phones inside the airport to let them know you're waiting. Then it took them about 40 mins to pick me up. Well, I didn't know that you had to call - so I waited more than one and a half hours in total. Oh well...

Apart from the wait there, my stay was very pleasant. Very friendly and helpful front-desk staff. Large and nice rooms. Got Gold recognition without asking. Would definetely stay there again.

Apart from the hotel's own retaurants, there is a retaurant & bar right next door (forgot the name - sorry!). Nice and reasonably priced food.

Hope this helps. ;)

The 4 Pts is alongside the Strip Mall Highway a few miles from the airport. It's among the least pleasant spots in all of New England, though it is convenient for the airport. (Though not nearly as convenient as the Hilton, which is connected to the terminals, or the Hyatt, which is on the airport waterfront.)

The 4 Pts is on the airport side of Boston Harbor, which used to be very important in terms of road access before the Ted Williams Tunnel was opened to all traffic a year or so ago. Now, however, the airport is fairly easy to reach from anywhere in the city.

From South Station, getting to the 4 Pts can be a bit tricky if you're trying to save money. You could take a taxi -- the taxi will head toward the airport, whiz past the airport and continue the few miles to the 4 Pts. If you've got time to burn, you could get to the airport (the subway requires a dreadful route that involves 2 transfers plus a bus ride; a much better alternative if you don't have much luggage is to walk down Atlantic Ave to the Boston Harbor Hotel and take the Water Shuttle), then go through the business of calling the 4 Pts and having their shuttle come and fetch you.

Most of the eateries within walking distance of the hotel are fast food chains or Applebee's-style places.

Travel from downtown Boston to the airport is not difficult in the morning, even during the morning rush hour. (Actually, it's worse from the 4 Pts, as you're traveling in the direction of rush hour traffic.) You can get from any of the downtown hotel to the airport in 15 minutes or less.

I stayed there about a year ago. It was the worst room I've experienced at any Starwood property. It is also the farthest from the airport of any "airport" hotel I've ever experienced. Neither the airport taxi drivers (about ten of them) nor the two dispachers knew where it was, and insisted that there was no such hotel. I had to phone the hotel from my cell phone and have them give the driver directions. It took ages to get there.

I stayed at the 4P Logan a few months ago when doing the AABOS MR. I booked two rooms on two separate dates for my stays. The first run went pretty smoothly, although it did take some time for the shuttle to show up. By the time the second trip came up, the hotel had double billed me for the rooms (each room separately and then again for both of them). Tried calling and faxing the hotel, but no response. When I checked in, explained the problem to the front desk and they said they understood what happened and would correct it. The next morning AMEX was showing yet another billing. Talked with the bookkeepper that morning before checking out and she did finally (a few days later) get everything squared away and credited my card. Learned to keep an eye on the hotels. Things they've been doing for decades still gets goofed up from time to time.

I guess there was a reason they are #13 on the airport phone system.
