Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - Finally made it back to the Wing....Sad...

I have been to CLK since the beginning when the Wing was not even open...
CX gave me a voucher of HK$150 to use at airport restaurants during transit...
The Wing has been wonderful with the cabanas , etc...
Then The Pier , to me a much intimate setting with day rooms etc...
After the novelties wore off....I tended to book flts with minimum connecting time . And last week , made it back to the Wing for a long layover .
Boy , how things have changed :
No more fruit bowl for decoration
No more fridge
No more bathrobe and slippers
No more distinction in toileterie amenities between F and C ( they used to be very good of having the same brand in F inflight kit on the ground, ie : at first Crabtree and Evelyn , then Erno Laszlo , then La Prairie , now it's Decleor inflight and all Biotherm on the ground ) .
And I was told that CX flights are full to the brim every nights from LA...
CX is paying denied boardings left and right , staffs got stucked here 4 or 5 nights in a row not being able to get a free ride to HKG...
Since CX is doing so well....when will they put back some of the "special touches" that made their lounges in CLK so special in the good ole days ?

I have to say, the food is very good, but I wish they would up the quality of the drinks to be comparable with that served on the plane, which would include premium wines/champagne and spirits.

CX took the fridges and fruit bowls (and flowers) out of the Cabanas because of SARS.. when loads were low, and well, this was the way to economise. And people were actually LIVING in the Cabanas during transits. That lead to many complaints that others were not giving fair treatment in wanting to use them as well.

The bathroom amenities are somewhat linked to what CX was offering as Washbags aboard flights. Erno Laszlo was great, but their products tend to be too rich for most skin types. But they were replaced by Declor in First anyway. But Declor doesn't have a great body range that one can splash on generously.. so the Biotherm range seem to be the most logical. Besidess, the current Biotherm range in the bathrooms are products that both men and women can use. With Declor, men might find it too 'flowery' for their tastes. I'm fine with either product.

The Service Desk used to mail items that you want mailed. Numerous letters and sometimes even a magazine were sent from there. Now, they won't take even a postcard without asking $ from you. But funnily enough, you can mail postcards (of CX) and letters (on CX stationery) aboard flights still free of charge.

Food offerings seem to have diminshed too. But at least there's food. Try the other Oneworld partners' lounges elsewhere in the world and see what you get.

You can still request slippers from the Cabana attendants (not sure about bathrobes; never asked).

Guy Betsy, well said. I have to agree with you on this one.
