As for Miami, Burke acknowledged that JetBlue has met with Miami International Airport officials to discuss the possibility of starting flights there.

''We're looking at Miami like we're looking at every other city in the country,'' he said. ``But there's no heavy emphasis on it. You won't see it anytime soon.''

Neelman has publicly said otherwise. I think you will see Miami sooner than what this spokeperson suggests. There is absolutley no customer base to build-up, since it exists already on both sides. Its an easy in.

I tend to agree but it is a little more complicated because of the expense of landing at MIA. JetBlue shuns expensive airports (OAK/SJC/SMF instead of SFO, LGB/ONT instead of LAX etc.) to keep its fares down.

FLL is much cheaper than MIA.

ONT is more expensive than LAX, FYI

Really? You learn something new every day.

On that note I'm curious as to the landing fees at various airports. Is there a place on the web where they are listed?

Thanks.

It doesn't seem like such a tough nut to crack. You just charge $20-40 extra per passenger (whatever the market will bear) for the higher cost airport. I'm sure there is a market that will pay a few extra bucks for MIA, LAX, or SFO, as well as the significant markets who would rather save a buck

Isn't 29 FLL-NYC dailies or however many there are overdoing it?

It is the single most traveld airline route in the United States. They fill up every flight easily during peak times. And not with dirt cheap fares either. Peak fares are already at $196-$236 each way, and people do pay them.

As soon as B6 announced LGA-FLL, USAir has announced the resumption of its FLL-LGA flts. I do not know how US is going to compete with WN on its home market and then pick this fight with B6. They should be focusing on international routes or some high yield markets. Too much ego and market share focus in this business instead of profitability. Hope US stays in business long enough to actually operate these flts starting Nov.
