Am new to SPG and was wondering , in order to minimize the cost of a matress run, what "on average"... "in general"... or... "seems to be"... the rank of the various Wood properties in terms of their rack rates (or promos FTM).
I realize that depending on location, dates, etc., rates always fluctuate- just trying to get an idea of where to look if trying to maximize my $.

Would (from most to least expensive) a realistic ranking be:
Luxury Collection, W Hotels, St Regis, Westin, Sheraton, Four Points ?

Thanks,
Mike

You are correct that location has almost everything to do with the rate. However, my experience has been, from most expensive to least:

Luxury Collection/St. Regis
W Hotels
Westin
Sheraton
Four Points

Since the Starwood website lets you (by default) search ALL BRANDS AT ONCE, I'm not sure what this ranking will get you in practical terms.

When I search for cheap mattress runs in the Bay Area, I just use the "rate range" feature (unfortunately, US only). You can sort the results by price as well. The resulting rates are only a rough estimate. Sometimes special rates (such as AAA) or promotions lower the price considerably.

I've seen rates at Westins and Sheratons and Ws that were as cheap as, or cheaper than, rates at Four Points in the same area.

I think that in general St Regis is the most expensive, and the Luxury Collection/W Hotels/Westin/Sheraton brands are all sort of equal. In some markets, Westins ans Sheratons are less expensive than Ws and Lux Collection, but it all varies. Usually 4 Points is the least expensive.

in some markets (San Fran, NYC), W Hotels are outrageously priced. but, in others (New Orleans), they are quite reasonable.

it all boils down to the golden rule: "supply and demand."
