Research on this forum indicates that Teeejay stayed at the Tashkent Sheraton in Nov. 2000. Does anyone have a more recent stay? Am interested in knowing whether this is a nicer property than the older IC, which appears to be the only other 4 or 5-star property in the city. Any comments would be appreciated.

The Sheraton is a bit on the older / musty side. The gym is particularly grim. I had a stay of a couple of weeks there last year.
The I/C is probably a better option and looked to have much better facilities but may be pricier. When I was there last year the Meridian had just opened and looked ok.
There is only a very limited number of things to do in Tashkent. Try and go to Samarkand which is really interesting.

Does anyone know what happened to this hotel? I cannot find it on the website.

Have stayed there a couple of times when it still was a Sheraton, however last time I was in TAS it had changed owner and management, it is now run by a turco/uzbek joint venture and it is not as nice as when it was managed by Starwood. My last stay goes back to April 2005
