Starwood Preferred Guest - SPG.COM down again?

:rolleyes: It sure seems like spg.com has been down quite often. Thought it was back up today, but now I don't even get to the "down for maintenance" page. So much for an award winning website, eh? :rolleyes:

It looks like they have the site completely offline now...

can't even get it online - tried preferredguest.com, sheraton.com and starwood.com - none online..........

I've been trying for the past hour and can't get anything to come up. I don't understand how it can only be down for part of us though.

I've tried:

spg.com, starwood.com, whotels.com, sheraton.com, westin.com, luxurycollection.com and preferredguest.com.

can't log onto preferredguest.com, sheraton.com or starwood.com - all off line

This is a couple hours later than you guys were trying, but it's working for me.

I just got on, no trouble. Tried to make a reservation for Sunday night in New Jersey (some Sheraton near New Brunswick). It offered me rates "From $109". I clicked on the link to make a reservation, got the screen saying "No rooms." I called the hotel. As I suspected, they have tons of rooms. Called the 800 number. They see tons of rooms, but the rates are much higher. So I decide to call internet support. Not only are they closed (how can you close an internet support department on a 24 hour worldwide business?), but it says "Please leave us a voicemail and we will call back" but, when you try, "This user cannot accept voice mail because their mailbox is full." Am I mad? Of course not, it was entertaining.

Just a guess, but if a company needs to temporarily redirect to which IP a URL goes (e.g. www.spg.com), it takes some time for the change to propogate to all of the domain name servers on the internet.

still unavailable, they dont want us to book anywhere else on the web, yet their own site is frequently down. :confused:

It seems to be available to me.

I wonder if one can invoke the 500 bonus Starpoint (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=331089) policy when www.spg.com is down as opposed to being maintained...

I just tried through Netscape and got the same message I did last night about try again later. On a whim tried to log-in though internet explorer which I hate using and I was able to log right in so if you need to access the site try internet explorer since it seems to currently be a browser issue.
