Has anyone directly compared these two headsets in terms of sound quality and other salient features? Trying to decide which to get to use with my Nokia 6600 and, when it arrives, Motorola V710. Possibly will use with a non-bluetooth moto phone with a DC600 BT adaptor as well. Thanks for any info.

Would "neither" be an option? I've tried several Motorola headsets and not a single one worked well enough to keep.

Pick Nokia, SonyEricsson or even Jabra.

Hmm. Well I suppose. I have a Jabra now but it wont work with the 6600. The reviews I have seen on the 810 have been extremely good. Some SonyEricsson get good reviews as do Jabras. I found one place specializing in headsets that wont even sell Nokia because they say the sound quality is unacceptable. Two reasons Im considering the the Motorola are 1) I believe they use the same power cord as my phone, hence I dont need to carry a cord when traveling and 2) they seem to be the only ones that will pair with multiple handsets, which I would want it to do.

Have you actually tried either the 810 or 820 and found then poor or was it earlier models?

A question about the HS810. How does opening and closing the flip work? When the flip is closed, is the headset on standby, off? And when a call comes in, does opening the flip answer the call or do I have to do something else? Thanks.

It appears off with the flip closed. When a call comes in you can open the flip, and after it connects (short delay) push the main button on the HS810 and it will answer the call. It may be possible to set auto-answer on the phone so that it connects when it turns on. In fact in thinking about it I cant imagine you cant set most phones to auto-answer. I will have to try that in fact. Thanks for the suggestion ;)

I've been doing a similar comparison.

Eveything I've read indicates that the HS810 is superior to the HS820.

I would have a look (or post a message) on the Motorola forum here http://www.howardforums.com

The one nagging doubt I have is whether I really want to spend $100+ on a headset !.

Thanks Gadgetfreak. Let us know how the auto-answer turns out.

cicsman, the 810 is available for $80 at Amazon (with their usual free shipping) and just a couple bucks less at Expansys.

I bought mine from www.bluetoothheadsets.com and was very happy with the service. The HS810s are $74.95 there.

Well, it was pretty complicated. I had to go under the Enhancements settings on my Nokia 6600 and change the Headset setting from autoanswer "Off" to "On" ;) Works great for autoanswer now. Thanks for the suggestion.

The only other thought - the Nokia bluetooth headset uses the same charger as the Nokia 'phone. An important consideration if you're on the road.

I gave up on the bluetooth headset mainly due to poor battery life - and the fact that I felt like a bit of a d!ckhead. :)
