A looooooong time ago flying Premier allowed you to stock up on Piper - 4 quarter bottles per return trip. :(

What?
Just when you thought it was safe to get back in the water... I wonder which numb-nuts thought this one up. I posted a few day ago that I though EI was getting just a little better. This is a truly idiotic move on EI's part. It was just about the only perk left.
Seems like I'll be staying with BD - they'll give you bubbly in Y (but only if you ask nicely!). Funny - BD's Y product is now quantifyably better than EI's C product. Better food, better selection of drink, more room (yes, in Y), service is far more pleasant and cheaper. Not to mention that they leave from area C in DUB. Bit of a no-brainer this one, and the BD miles are very generous (http://www.flybmi.com/bmi/en-gb/frequentflyers/howwecompare/aerlingustab.aspx) in comparison.
No wonder that they won the best LHR and Overall airline awards in the DCC awards recently.
Before 9/11 I was a loyal customer of *Alliance - MBI ((as it is now); LH and UA mostly. I switched to OW so as to fly EI direct to the US.
Back then EI and BD were pretty equal, I preferred the more 'Irish' treatment of EI. Have not flown BMI since, but I have to say I am honestly considering forgetting about the inter europe miles and lounge access and dropping EI completely. Might try to get UA to comp (based on AA EXP) later this year.
