US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-FlightFund Merger) - LGW envoy inventory--need opinions

Ok people--I need some help-

Sometime in September or October, a friend of mine is expecting..and I want to be there around the time the baby is born. However, she lives in LGW. I would use miles for the trip. Being a CP, how likely is it that if I went to a counter where I know the supervisors, or called the intl CP desk(yes, there is such a thing), how likely is it that US would do a quick ticket for envoy class even if there was no I inventory. Would I be better off issuing it for any days that I can and then going standby? Your thoughts please...

no way on a discount envoy award... book a premium coach award and use your upgrade certificates (dmuta3 or dmuta4) to upgrade it.

Sfeinberg,

September and October are clearly off-peak for London. I would take a best guess for an October date and book an envoy ticket where available. The folks at the international award desk will definitely be able to work something out for you. If not on US, they can probably do it on UA or LH. UA has lots of inventory to london.

But first I would book an envoy ticket with the dates you are most likely to need it (your chances of hitting the day that the baby is born are much better than playing the lottery :) )

Edited to add: I booked an envoy class ticket last year to LGW for the first week of October. More inventory opened up about a week out so I think your chances are good.

I have used DMUTA4's as well as miles to upgade flights to LGE on US in January, March and June. As CP, cleared every time. This time, I cleared three days out, and they called me to tell me that I scored Row 1.

I believe that as a CP, if you want to upgrade and have the miles or the certs, you will most likely get the upgrade.

I was told that they work to clear CP's three to four days out, so that any CP who wanted to upgrade gets the chance before others. And on a 330, there is almost always room.
