US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-FlightFund Merger) - Delays in aircraft cabin servicing in PHL

I have been tracking the flights that I will be taking next month from PHX to LGW over the past two weeks . Want to see if I can fully take advantage of the Envoy lounge during the 90 minute connect time.

Interesting thing; the PHL-LGW flight is averaging 19 minutes late, mostly because of "delays in aircraft cabin servicing" and sometimes "because of delays during baggage and cargo loading" according to the website. At least it gives me more time to enjoy the lounge.

The flights out of PHX and LGW are generally closer to schedule.

Is this part of the PHL effect? Are things that stressed out with US at PHL?

I've probably flown PHL-LGW 8-10 times in the last 18 months, and it's probably late about 2/3rds of the time. It's almost always cargo loading that does it.

Simply...I don't trust those stupid delay reasons. 1/2 the time my flight is delayed - the reason that is given on the website for my flight is just wrong.

Since Cx4 noted that its usually baggage...maybe they have it right - but I wouldn't put too much trust in those reasons.

Safe Travels,
Chris :)

Then there was the time that I went to pick someone up from the airport when the website said it landed, and the flight hadn't left PIT yet. That wa a confusing one.

I have read elsewhere that cargo is where the profits are. The airlines (in general) won't hold a flight if we are late on a connecting flight :( , but that express package of woopie cushions are another matter  :p

Of course: The cargo doesn't ask for exit rows or upgrades. It also doesn't ask for limes in their vodka & tonics or take several XOXO bars from the snack basket. ;)

What about a position near the cargo doors or close to the front of the jet? ;) Last on...first off. :p This could be "Priority" cargo. :D

My husband and I take this flight frequently. The actual departure might be delayed, but boarding is hardly ever delayed, meaning that if there's any waiting to be done it's going to be on the plane, so you're probably not going to get extra lounge time. On the up side, if the flight is delayed they usually always make it up in the air.

How early before departure do they board the Envoy passengers?

Are there moving walkways from C concourse to A West?

With summer coming I'm nervous about connecting to an int'l flight in PHL with less than two hours....I have had horrible luck with PHL lately.

There are moving walkways but 2/3 of it is good old shoe leather pounding the pavement.

One benefit as a CP in envoy class should be a cart ride from C to the A terminal. Usually I don't mind the exercise, but there is free booze in the envoy departure lounge! Gotta hurry! ^

It's usually pretty much whatever it says on your ticket. About 50 minutes before departure I think......as an Envoy you can board first, but you don't HAVE to board first.....I have found the transatlantics out of Philly to always board pretty much on schedule... my husband (who is working in London but we live in Philly) and I take this flight several times a month between the two of us, rarely together, and we frequently time our calls to each other for about 20 min. prior to departure. Hardly ever is the flyer not settled into Envoy with Champagne in hand! It is not like domestic where there are frequent delays.

Yes, there are sidewalks, but you will still have a lot of walking to do....

There are moving sidewalks between B-C and then from B-A there are 2 separate sets. There is also one within A-West in the area over the ticketing lobby. Considering you will be sitting for the next 8 hours or so, I for one would appreciate the chance to walk from C to A-West if given the time.
