I'm trying to get an award ticket to Bombay in December/jan... I'm very flexible on my dates though. I was wondering if a stopover is permitted, say in bangkok or singapore?
Do I have to go the most direct route or can i go pit-sfo-bkk-bom if i wish?

The idiots at reservations first told me that none of their allied carriers flies to India, then when I told them Lufthansa told me that they don't fly to Bombay (they DO!). Whats the best way to deal with this? Its so hard!

Stopovers are permitted on int'l award tickets as long as your desired stopover city is a valid routing. For example, to go GSO-FRA, you could go via PIT,PHL,CLT,IAD,ORD,BOS. Get the idea? Keep in mind that on a Star partner award, you CANNOT make changes once you originate, so plan carefully.
