US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-FlightFund Merger) - $99 BOA Companion Certificate Purchase

HI...I have I figure is an easy question. I'm not going to be able to use my $99 certificate. If I let a friend of mine use it do I have to make the purchase on my Dividend Card? Or if he has a standard or gold card can he use that to purchase the ticket?

How do these certs work? Do you merely have to pay $99 and then any companion can travel with a Dividend Miles cardholder on any domestic reservation? How long after applying for the card do these certificates arrive?

According to the terms & conditions on the certificate, the tickets must be purchased on a DM Visa Platinum card (I presume Signature card, as well), but there is no indication that the cert is not transferrable. It is valid for roundtrip coach travel of $250 or more. There are quite a few restrictions, including blackout dates, so read the T&C's carefully.

The cert is mailed with the January statement. Tickets must be purchased by June 30, 2004, for travel by December 15, 2004.

When I used my certificate last year they required that I use the US Airways Visa Card. I do not believe that the Airport ticketing agent was real concerned that the ticket matched the name on the Visa card.
