This is what I sent to consumer affairs some moments ago.
After two nights of sleeping over it, so you might guess how I felt during the flight and after arrival at FRA.

What happened to Coach-Class?

Dear Sir or Madam,

I appreciate the little changes you made in envoy-class very much (US893, 05/28/04). You are going for the quality that existed two years ago. (The only thing missing is the separate salad and dessert (and the noise-cancelling headphones).)

But it seems to me, coach class has to pay for these changes. Compared to another transatlantic coach flight two years ago too, dinner was below expectations/memories and breakfast was nothing but a joke. Even coach flight attendants don't seemed to have no idea of good or appropriate behaviour any more. I EXPECT "you're welcome", when is say "Thank you" from service personnel even when some packed breakfast thing is thrown on my seats table. In envoy this seems to be no problem as I could see two weeks before.
I don't know if it was this specific crew, that's communicative skills and attitude were so poor, but it doesn't lead to consumer satisfaction! So far this flight has been extremely unsatisfying and unpleasant.

Ill-humored

I'm not really sure what your point is here, but good luck.

You can make your statements about most any service business regarding please & thank you.

I for one never understood this whole food thing. I don't expect my airline to be a gourment restaurant anymore than I expect my favorite gourmet restuarant to fly me to Germany.

If I want something truly edible I bring it with me if I'm in coach. Not a hard concept to grasp. To me complaining about food in coach is one reason they view us whinning elites.

Just one man's opinion.

I did not expect it THAT worse after a decent flight with nicer FAs and better food in coach two years ago. Could be it was crew specific.
Maybe I'm a little bit spoiled meanwhile. :D
