California - Finally, a good restaurant in South Lake Tahoe

We have been searching for years for a good restaurant on the south shore of Lake Tahoe. We've found several on the north shore, but nothing to our liking on the south shore.

At the suggestion of an employee at Caesar's we tried a restaurant just across the state line in Nevada called Mirabelle. It is a small French bistro (only about 12 tables) in a nondescript strip mall, but very nicely decorated with a friendly relaxed atmosphere.

The food was really excellent. Several different appetizers - an onion tart, a crab and mushroom Napolean, and lobster bisque - along with a salmon entree were all outstanding. The wine list is not large but adequate.

The prices were quite reasonable. All of the appetizers were under $10, most of the entrees were $18-25, but the best deal of all is a fixed price meal for $25.50 that includes soup or appetizer (choice of 4), entree (choice of 3), and dessert (choice of 3).

The restaurant is located at 290 Kingsbury Grade, about a 2 minute drive from the big casinos. Reservations are recommended. Closed Mondays.

Why does this just sound like a cut and paste from something the restaurant wrote about itself?

Sometimes I wonder why I ever bother to post anything on this board. We had a very good meal for about $85. If you don't want to go there, fine. I just thought I'd share our enjoyment at finding a good restaurant.

I'm aware of this thread as I posted in it. Mirabelle is much better than Cafe Fiore, which I had mentioned previously. Are you suggesting I should have just added to that previous thread instead of starting a new one?

Thank you, I appreciate your post! ^^

Most of my Tahoe time has been spent on the North Shore, but the times I have been on the South Shore I have always been disappointed by the selection of restaurants.

Thanks again for posting your review!

Why does this sound rude?

Because it is. :td:

No, not necessarily. Was just pointing folks who were interested in the topic to some earlier discussion.

OK, I understand. I was just upset at the post previous to yours.

Continue to post.

Even if no one responds directly, posting IS VERY MUCH appreciated and there are many more lurkers who very much appreciate your posting.

Maybe one day the lurker will become a poster ^ ^ ^

your thread made my notes for my next time there.

The Embassy Suites restaurant, Echo, was excellent! For a casino buffet, the Pacifica at Harvey's was pretty good; impressive selection of food and beautiful dessert section!
