No one's listed Turkish Airlines so I'll add that one to the list... but my favorite was the Aeroflot one with the seats not bolted to the floor, a seat belt that you just tied around your waist, and the flight attendants slinging out all the vodka shots you could hold, but no food. That was one happy flight. ;)

I admire anyone who meets the criteria of Human Unit above, i.e. if you have flown on the Mercure or VFW-Fokker 614. If so, write a trip report!!

As for me, counting jets on commercial airlines, not private planes or helicopters or props,

707 (-120, -320), 717, 727 (-100, -200, -200Advanced), 737 (-300, -400, -500, -700, -800), 747 (-100, SP, -200, -300, -400), 757 (-200, -300), 767 (-200, -200ER, -300ER, -400ER), 777-200

A300B4, A310-200, A320-200, A319, A321, A340-300

DC-9 (-10, -30, -50), DC-8-63 and -73, DC-10 (-10, -30, -40), MD-11, MD-80 series, MD-88, MD-90

L1011 (-1, -100, -200/250, -500), F28-4000, F70, F100, BAe 146-200, BAe RJ85, BAC One Eleven-400 and -500, ERJ135/145, CRJ/CRJ700, 328JET.

You can see that I haven't been on numerous planes such as the Convair 880/990, DC-9-20 (-10 with a bigger wing), Concorde, Tu144, VC-10, IL-62, Tu154, A340-600, short body 707 for Qantas, 720, Mercure, 614, Trident, Caravelle. These are planes that I would like to ride, but in some cases is no longer possible.

Impressive listings so far, I can only add a couple:

Air 2000 (charter from London to TLV)
Air Sinai (fully owned EgyptAir subsidiary that exists solely to keep the Zionist entity off Egyptair's route maps  )
Arkia (domestic Israeli flights)
Berjaya Air (XSP-TIO/TIO-SZB)
Buzz (extinct British LCC first known as klm-UK and later swallowed by EasyJet)

And in case you're wondering, XSP is Singapore Seletar, TIO is Tioman Island (Malaysia), SZB is Kuala Lumpur Subang, and Berjaya's Dash-7 turboprops are the only scheduled flights using any of these three airports...! FWIW, SZB used to be KUL before the new airport opened.

And the rest of the usual suspects:

Air Asia
Air Malta
All Nippon Airways
American Airlines
Aseana
Austrian Airlines
El Al
Egyptair
Finnair
Icelandair
Japan Airlines
Lufthansa
Malaysian Airlines

Significant in their absence: Air France, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, KLM -- can you tell which alliance I prefer? :D I've probably flown these and more in my days as a globetrotting brat, but too long ago to remember.

The only one I can add to the list is an Air Aruba 767-200 coming from a skiing holiday, SZG-LGW. It must have been about ten years back now, and I believe it was meant to be a Britannia operated plane. My family was extremely lucky in the fact that it was still configured in a three class config, rather than the normal all Y charter, and on check-in was allocated row 1, and a first class seat. Normal charter service though.

From a quick search, I suspect it may have been this (http://www.airliners.net/open.file/347212/L/) aircraft.

haven't seen Croatia Airlines (OU) mentioned yet...took them from ZAG-LGW in February. i'll be on Middle East Airlines from BEY-CDG in July as well, it's a codeshare with AF...should be interesting.

Ok thought it would be interesting in doing a summary of all the airlines FTers have been on - So here it is - the number after the name is the number of times it has been mentioned in this thread to give a rough idea of what airlines we fly the most (but will be inaccurate as a lot of posters only mentioned airlines that had not been mentioned before). In total we have 323 different airlines with United being the most flown on.

As you can see from the list I've been pampered once too many by asian hospitality, so riding on Qantas and BA can be rather dreadful. My favourite from that list is still Royal Brunei though, lousy hub, old planes, crazy connection times, but I love it for its extremely affordable (and I mean cheap) J class seats (esp. now that they have the SQ Skybeds-type seats) and genuine crew whom don't give you the impression that the next thing they do is to go to the galley behind to ***** about ya (not that they don't, they just dont carry that impression imho). The new sky lounge in brunei is one of the most welcoming ones, and the buffet, while it doesn't quite serve gourmet stuff, will fill you (as compared to sandwiches and nuts in many many qantas clubs that I've been to).

I am quite new here, so I will not bore you with a couple of dozen "regular" airlines.

My top three most exotic airlines were Vladavia (Vladivostok Airlines), Dalavia (Khabarovsk Airlines) and Sakhalin Avia - all in Russia's Far East.

Vladavia flight from Osaka to Vladivostok featured a travelling companion with no neck and a very thick golden chain, who kept talking on his mobile during actual take-off. When an attendant told him not to do this, he said he would switch the mobile off as soon as the reception is lost, which he did.

A flight from Vladivostok to Toyama in Japan had last-minute aircraft change: because of breakdown or loss of wing on scheduled Tupolev Tu-134 we got "executive" Yak-40 jet with peeling walnut veneer decor and shiny formica tables. I understand local administration boss was not using it that day.

Memories, memories.

Not to repeat a lot of the usual, I'll just list the "more off beat" as well:

SCAT (South Central Air Transport--Baton Rouge to Ft. Walton Beach, circa 1977)

Southern Airways (from ?? to around 1971 or '72)

Janet AKA "Red Stripe Airlines" (Las Vegas to wherever)

Air Micronesia (From/to larger islands in Micronesia and Honolulu)

MAC (Naw, never mind, that ain't an airline!)

It was Autair (http://www.airliners.net/open.file/111152/M/). Maybe this very plane; they didn't have many.

Just noticed WHBM's addition to my list of airlines (Autair) and aircraft (Handley Page Herald 101). While that flight was a while back (summer of '69) I recall being somewhat disconcerted by the proximity of the seat to the ground. I believe this was the first high-wing commercial a/c I'd ever flown aboard. C-123 didn't count ...

European Aviation

One of Paul Stoddart's planes which was chartered to a few Formula One Teams (I blagged a ride).
The memorable thing with this journey (full of tired F1 mechanics returning from Barcelona) is the breathtaking speed with which everybody disembarked - even though every single person had carry on luggage.
None of the usual faffing around - just shows what air travel would be like if absolutely everybody was a FFer.

Howabout SAC or TAC?

Nope. We did have SAC bombers (B-52s) at Eglin AFB, but I was a teenager then, so never got to fly on one. TAC wasn't a possibility, either, though I DID hear a rumor (which I am sure is an urban legend) about some F4 pilot on a short systems-check flight without a GIB arranging to stop on the tarmac prior to takeoff and let his friend who was hiding at the start of the runway to run up and climb in for a short flight.

Wow, boilermaker, a trip down memory lane....thanks!

United (though I haven't flown them in more than 4 years for various reasons)
American
Continental
USAir/US Airways
TWA
Midway Airlines (its first incarnation)
Virgin Atlantic
Air France
Iberia
El Al

I found United's service to have declined steadily in the last few years that I flew them; I can't speak for what it is like more recently.

Most of my flying these days is with American and Continental - I'm a frequent flyer member with both.

My only time on Air France was a trip to Guadeloupe (via Miami and Port Au Prince) when I was a young kid - many years ago. The most notorious thing about that trip was Haitian troops marching us off the plane in Port Au Prince at gunpoint and forcing us to buy from the airport duty free shop.

Not nearly as many as some:

BA (RTW trip in F when I was about 14 or 15, I think)
UA (Int'l C & domestic F & Y)
NW (Domestic F & Y, Int'l Y)
CO (Domestic F & Y, Int'l Y)

AA (Dom Y)

Bangkok Airways (Dom Y)
Thai (Int'l Y, Dom C)
KLM (Int'l C - when I was about 7 & again when I was about 12 - & Int'l Y)
Cathay Pacific (Int'l C - when I was about 12)
ANA (Int'l C - when I was 12)
bmi (intra-europe Y)
LH (int'l Y & maybe C when I was about 9, but I'm not 100% positive on this one)
AF (int'l Y)
Air India (int'l & domestic-India Y)
Indian Airlines (was on a flight from Delhi to Jaipur & the engine literally caught on fire - only dom Y)
Pan Am (dom Y)
Iceland Air (Int'l Y - still can't believe they charge for soda & chips!)

Oddly enough, as thrifty as I am, I've never flown on a LCC, though I was thinking about an easyJet flight once, but I never ended up booking it.

Which brings me back to an interesting story. On Xiamen, out of the gate at SZX, the FA starts walking down the aisle and scanning the barcodes on everyone's FF card. I felt left out ;) Never seen that before. Probably about 50% of the Pax had one.

haven't seen this yet but its my most unusual:

Xinjiang Airlines on a TU-154 from Xining to Guangzhou.

The boaring process was amazing, we all had BPs but no seat numbers so when the gate open (just the size of a regular door) everyone ran to it, shoving and pushing to get onboard. If you didn't get on, too bad, next flight.....

Also, not mentioned:
FAT - (I kid you not!) aka Far eastern Air Transport between Taipei and Kaohsiung
Uniair - also between Taipei and Kaohsiung
