Just received in mail a Trial Gold Membership card, good for half year. Should I now transfer my points & stays from my existing mem # to this one? What happen then when the trial ends? And do all promo I signed up for get "transferred" to this new number?

I just received a complimentary Gold card, too. It has my old number with a "G" in front of it. I logged into SPG.com and it doesn't show me as Gold yet.

I just did a Starwood stay on Saturday, and I'm wondering if I'll get the double points they mention in the brochure they sent with the card. It's nice of them to give me Gold, though.

Yep! I got one too! ^ I only had 7 stays so far this year as a AAA memeber. SPG.com does not show me as "Gold" yet, should I make a call to have that status updated?

NO OFFENSE TO ANYONE ABOVE, BUT....

This continues to be SO troubling especially when there is no "mid-level" between Gold (10 stays or, well, free like candy) and Plat (25 stays) - the dilution of this program is getting more and more disappointing every day.

Yeah, its kind of funny that I am "Gold" without ever even staying at a *wood property....although now I may be more inclined to pick one instead of my usual Hyatt or Hilton...

It's not really all that bad, since the Gold benefits don't amount to much - I was already getting room upgrades because of the Starwood Amex hidden elite level, so for me it means 1 point more per dollar and the late checkout option - plus the free newspaper if I stay on a weekday. And if this prompts me to get gold on my own, then it's good for Starwood.

I agree with you on that, however, I think it's a smart decision for SPG. I will definitely move some business to SPG from HHonors because now I have a chance for an upgrad, and will try to requalify for 2006 with the double stay credit promo. Can't blame SPG for trying to make a few more bucks! :)

This is a targeted promotion for select pre-registered members called Gold Trial Plus Double Starpoints. There was a delay in actually upgraded these accounts to the Gold level. We are currently working on getting the accounts upgraded without having a member call to have the account manually updated. We appreciate you patience while this is done within the next couple days.

PaulMSN - What do you refer to when you mention you were receiving room upgrades via an AMEX hidden elite level?

If you have the Starwood Amex card, you get Preferred Plus status:

Upon rereading this thread, I realize I apparently already had the late checkout option, too.

As of Friday, this has been fixed on my account which now shows my new Gold level. I did not call, so whatever you did worked. Thank you.

My account was updated, too, and the double points added, but the original rate of 2 points/$ was not changed to the Gold 3/$. Since there apparently was also a double points offer at the 4 Points LAX, this amounts to a 267 point discrepency. Is it possible to fix this, Ms. Kaeding? Thanks.
By the way, it was nice to get this unexpected promo. I'll be taking advantage of it.

I got one, too. THANKS SPG!!!

I will definitely be sending more business travel in your direction. Too bad the card didn't arrive a week earlier as I would have much preferred to stay at the Westin O'Hare instead of the rather disappointing Hyatt Rosemont.
