Since this is my very 1st post to FT let me say I enjoyed viewing all of your posting over the last months.
Now: I will be arriving in Chiangi at 11.50 pm on UA´s 801, departing 7 hrs later on UA 800 (don´t ask ;). I am *G and will be holding a C-Class boarding pass for both flights.
My 3 questions:
1. Is it a good idea to transfer to terminal 2 to enjoy Silver Kris "sleeper
seats"?
2. If yes, how do I go back to terminal 1 around 5.30 am with the shuttle not
in operation? If possible w/o going through immigration?
3. Are there any alternatives in terminal 1, especially with sleeper seats? A
friend told me about a "rainbow lounge"?
Thanx for your help in advance!

How do you plan to get into the Silver Kris lounge? I've never tried with just a (non SQ) *G card and flying another *A airline. I'll bet SQ directs you to one of their lesser lounges.

Welcome to FT!
I assume you have your C boarding pass SIN-NRT issued already when you land in SIN.
If it is, then my answers to your questions are:
1. Yes, although sometimes grudgingly. There is decent food, and showers.
2. Both terminals are connected air-side, so you never have to go thru immigration. There is a walkway connecting both terminals.
3. Not familiar with this though. Best alternative is to book the transit hotel, but that would incur $$.

Welcome to FT flyin ' ruddl :)
1) Officially you will not get into SQ lounge without onward C or F ticket on SQ, LH or NZ (only), unless as PPS. Unofficially, if you wait until 1:30am (just a guess - after the last flights are boarded) when all is quiet you may have a chance of sneaking in ;)
2) You can walk along the passageway (by the E gates) between the terminal - complete with moving walkways if desired.
3) Not sure - try a transit hotel (will cost $$).

Yes but the Silver Kris lounge is NOT the *Gold lounge so you dont have right of access flying UA, unless you happen to be PPS.
We dont mean to come across so strong, but it is a common misperception that *Gold or anyone flying any *A in C or F has right of access. SQ are very much more restrictive than other *A in who has access to their lounges. The *Gold lounge at SIN is called Premier (also in T2) and it is very much lower quality than Silver Kris.

Sorry to bring this thread up again, but I didn´t thought that access to the Silver Kris Lounge should pose a problem as the *-site quotes:
"International Business Class:
Customers who present an international Business Class boarding pass, regardless of the Star Alliance carrier they fly, have access to all members' designated business departure lounges. Guests are not permitted."

The wording is not water tight and open to interpretation.
I assure you the above information posted by Kiwi is correct. Unless you have PPS Status with SQ, the C boarding pass that you hold will not grant you access into the Silver Kris Lounge. There are other, (yes, unfortunately lesser) lounges that you will be able to use.

Unfortunately for us, SQ designates the Premier lounge as the *Gold/*Biz/*First lounge and so that is the one you have available. Silver Kris is not *Gold/*Biz/*First lounge. As mentioned above, it is available if you are flying biz or first on SQ, LH or NZ only - or you are PPS.
Sorry to labour the point - but thats the rule SQ has made.

Try this www.airport-hotel.com.sg/ for the Transit hotel website. You can fill in a form and submit it. THey respond by e-mail fairly promptly. If they confirm your room, remember to carry a print out of the e-mail confirmation. If they are really full up, they sometimes bump you even if you have a confirmation. Having the printed copy will save you then as its irrefutable. :)

Hmm...not sure if they have changed, because prior to my PPS cards, I did not have any problems entering SKL with my UA C BP and 1K card. I think several UA C pax have done it before.
Suggest you give it a try, since the worst that can happen is that they deny you entry.
If you are traveling light, suggest that you take a cab and indulge in some good food.

Look here (http://www.staralliance.com/star_alliance/star/frame/main_10.html) and you find *As official answer (as you don’t accept Kiwi Flyer’s excellent explanations and hints):
In Singapore we offer access to the Singapore Airlines Premium Lounge instead of the Silver Kris Lounge (Raffles Class).
UA’s Lounges info (http://www.united.com/page/article/0,1360,3113,00.html)
In T1 there are two *A lounges: Thai Royal Orchid Lounge & CLUB ANA Lounge.

Leaving all that accurate information aside, the sleeper seats in the lounge are highly over-rated. Most people seem to end up on the floor instead....so I would recommend the transit hotel, or perhaps a cheap room at the newly re-opened Le Meridien Changi.

I thought the consensus here (and in other airline forums) is that SQ SilverKris lounge in SIN is open to business class passengers on any Star Alliance carrier, not limited to SQ. I myself have entered there by showing only a NH boarding pass without mentioning/showing my PPS card.

Chiangi-San-- Glad to see you back on these boards... :D Im not sure that consensus is there. I guess that there may be some exceptions or cases when the staff dont check, but, unless you are PPS or fly on some of the specially designated Star partners (and United is not one of them) that SQ allows into the Silver Kris lounges, one is usually denied entry. Are you sure NH is not one of the 'special' partners?
My respects to you, Sir.

AFAIK, the 'special' partners of SQ for Silver Kris lounge access are LH and NZ.
All stargold's on other star carriers are asked to go to the designated 'star-alliance gold' lounge at SIN which is the (somewhat inferior) SATS Premier lounge.

Maybe you should look at the entrance of the Silver Kris Lounge (besides SQ/MI you find only LH & NZ logos), consult *A information (http://www.staralliance.com/star_alliance/star/content/SA_gold_member.html) or take the time to read some posts on this thread. After doing this, it is hard to believe tht you still think what you wrote above.
@ Swanhunter. The sleeper seats, food, drinks, internet access all maybe overrated, but a lot of travellers like to use these offers (the even come from another Terminal!) and some of them try to find entry keys to join the crowd, other complain that lounge are packed…

Swanhunter,
have you had recent experience with the Changi Le Meridien - how away is it from the terminal - how much time does one need to allocate for "transfer" to the hotel and back ?

With due respect, who has been denied access at SKL by showing which star carrier's business class boarding pass?
I am sorry I could only read ws8n 's experience on this thread, which I think is contrary to what is perhaps asserted? I did recall reading a few UA business class pax refused but others, I thought, were all admitted with a business class boarding pass.
Mine is also not recent. It was back in December. I do not think it was a fluke as it was the second time that I was admitted with a NH C class boarding pass. On both times, they took note of my name and flight number at the service desk counter on the left side before the F class lounge.

I agree wholeheartedly with the above posters in laying out the "rules" and "regulations" of access to the SilverKris lounge in SIN. I would say however, that it is worth a shot. Here's why...
I (a *G) recently flew Raffles into SIN and arrived around midnight. I had an early flight the next morning on Malaysian to KUL. I meandered up to the SK lounge and politely explained the situation. After checking my itin (which had additional SQ flights in Raffles later in the week) I was let in to the lounge, which was deserted. I had a fitful sleep in the "Sleeper" seats, had some breakfast, and headed to my flight. Of course, ymmv, but the worst they can say is no.

FYI, the Changi Village Meridien is closed for renovations and only opening again on 22 May.
Its worth a shot trying to get into the Silver Kris Lounge...Last Wednesday morning I flew into Changi and I had an onward C boarding pass on SQ later that day so I walked straight into the Raffles lounge with a "good morning" to the 3 staff standing at the entrance. It was only as I headed to the showers that I realized that no one had asked me for my boarding pass. There was no obvious indication that I was flying in Raffles - I was wearing jeans - and my Krisflyer Elite Gold luggage tag was in plain sight on my cabin bag.

Thanks for the information - was looking for the night on May 25 - arriving from NRT at 1:05 am (actually May 26) and continuing at 8:50 that morning.
Always prefer a bed instead of a lounge - especially at € 60 for the night.

Your Raffles class BP must have some kind of radioactive isotope that shows up on SQ warden's scanners as they pass thru :D
Either that or they recognized you from previous trips. That has happen to me before, and I am surprised they remember my name.

Yes occasionally I have gotten in without showing any boarding pass or card - either they recognised me, or in rare case no one was manning the front desk! But I have also seen a lot of people turned away who thought they had access. As always YMMV.

It's only the sleeper seats that I think are hugely over-rated - otherwise the lounges are the best in the airport :) FWIW, I think the BA/QF F lounge comes in second.
And apologies for the dud information over the hotel opening date. The mailshot I saw implied it had already opened.
