US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-FlightFund Merger) - PHL-IAH going Express...

Just found out that mainline service from Philly into Houston is being replaced by E70 baby-jets sometime in June (assuming they get them, I guess). I shouldn't be surprised, but it's still a bit hard to swallow... this is a route I often travel and it's over 1300 miles.
This is going to make Southwest's full size 737s to HOU (or Continental's to IAH, for that matter) worth another look...

This type of game plan to combat Southwest will ensure the failure of our beloved airline. :(

I flew PHL-IAH a couple of times this year and find it hard to believe they are axing first class for all the oil types that fly that route. As I was never able to get tickets for less than $1,200 RT midweek, that routing should have been profitable for them, no?

It was probably profitable pre-WN. I am surprised that they are not keeping a 737 or 319 on an a.m. flight like they do for ATL.

that's crazy talk. a 737 seat is 17 inches wide max. an E70 seat is 18.25.
the media have nuttily convinced people that E70/E90 is a "Regional Jet", but it's not the same family as the 135/140/145 1x2 babyjets.

Sure... but there's no chance of an upgrade in an E70.

no, there isn't, and that would be fine reason to avoid it in my book. but the stated alternative was WN, no upgrades and the cattlecar...
