Not sure if this was already posted, but WN's schedule shows a non-stop from PHL to OAK beginning 9/13.

Very savvy on their part!

PHL-SAN N/S service starts the same day, too.

They are really going for the jugular with the transcons. Plus, it does take a lot of the PHL factor out of the equation for LUV, as they can make up a lot of time to/from the coast if necessary.

Pre-WN, I paid in excess of $2,000 to fly to LAX and SFO from PHL--and that was for a B or Y fare, not FC.

Great, perhaps they'll add a 21st city to the 3x mile list...SFO. A MR must for sure.

Speaking of the 20 city list, I've now seen 3 items of advertizing (usairways.com, an e-mail, and snail mail ad) which includes Little Rock but not LAS) Is this a typo or do you really don't get 3x miles for LAS?

yup, 3 times to LAS if you book on-line, 2 times if you don't. The bonus does not go towards preferred status. No n/s service yet to LIT that I know of.

Before we all get too excited, Southwest is flying PHL-OAK and PHL-SAN non-stop as Saturday-only service.

I'm suprised that PHL-OAK is Saturday only. LUV should be able to make a killing at $299 on the walkup traffic.

WN is going to be in ramp-up mode in PHL for a while.

They often start new city pairs as Saturday service only and then add additional frequencies. One thing that is probably constraining WN is aircraft. It's not like they have a bunch of planes sitting around doing nothing.

Remember, BWI started small.

Let's hope US is not thinking that way. They should jump on top of this additional service by WN before WN increases the frequency. US could crush them if they are proactive instead of being reactive.
