So all the talk about the signature card got me thinking...

So I have a classic card right now. Who's to say I can't upgrade to a Gold card and get the 7,000 bonus for that. And then upgrade to Platinum and get the 10,000 bonus for that. And then upgrade to a Signature, which I was planning on doing anyway, and getting the 15,000 for that. Seems like that'd be an easy 32,000 miles right there. Anyone try this before?

If I remember correctly, when you upgrade, you only get the difference in miles to the next level. For example, if you upgrade from Gold to Platinum, you only get 3,000 miles (10,000 miles minus 7,000 miles you got for Gold), and if you upgrade from Platinum to Signature, you only get 5,000 miles (15,000 miles minus 10,000 miles you got with Platinum).

i think if you apply for each of them separately, rather than upgrading, you can all of the bonuses for each card.

I think this answers my question..people won't be getting miles unless its a new application:

Thank you for your e-mail.

Please be advised that the 15,000 bonus miles, applies towards new US
Airways Visa Signature applicants, not the existing ones.

We appreciate the opportunity to assist you online. Should you have any
further inquiries, please e-mail us again.

Sincerely,
Hillary Dugger, Bank of America
