We will be flying in Business Class on Singapore Airlines this summer. How many miles will we earn towards Preferred status? Is it 100%? or 125% like on United and Lufthansa?

Thanks!

125% on SQ. ^

However, despite SQ's inflight service, I'd probably choose UA if I was in paid business for the 200% (not 125% as noted above) accrual rate that counts towards Preferred status.

Unfortunately it sounds like you'll miss SQ double miles http://www.usairways.com/dividendmiles/7859.htm

I cannot find the quoted 125% for SQ Business class anywhere. Im not talking about earned Dividend Miles, Im talking about miles that will count toward Preferred status. The link above only mentions United, Lufthansa and US Airways. Any proof for the 125% Preferred US miles so I can make sure I get them.

Under the 'earning miles' section of usairways.com (Star Alliance partners link):

I believe this only refers to earning basic Dividend Miles. It doesnt say anything about the class of service bonus counting towards Preferred status. Can anyone confirm that it does?

Thanks!

My understanding, based on reading the T&C (although I haven't confirmed with anyone at US) is that flights on Singapore Airlines (SQ) do NOT get you preferred qualifying miles:

"Qualifying miles and segments include the 500-mile minimum flight credit or miles and segments accrued for paid, qualifying flights on US Airways, the US Airways Express carriers, US Airways Shuttle, LufthansaŽ, Spanair, UnitedŽ, United Express, Caribbean Star Airlines and Caribbean Sun Airlines. I was under the understanding that you get Preferred miles for all Star Alliance flights, my question was about the bonus miles for Business Class and whether they count for Preferred status. I am really starting to wonder now if I should just place the miles in United Mileage Plus instead. I believe we will achieve Silver status after the trip and I want it in an airline that will last, although I hope US will as I fly them more often.

I was looking at the dm t&c and noticed that about prefered miles as well.It makes no sense what so ever to see that in the t&c.I was very surprised to see that....Im confused since I thought that the one of the points of the alliance was to widen the mileage earning chances...

You should get the COS bonus as preferred miles just as you would get it on United or any other Star Alliance (http://www.star-alliance.com/star_alliance/star/frame/main_10.html) partner. However, it seem it does not afford you the increase in preferred COS bonus that is in effect for U, UA and LH. The programmer doesn't have time to do everything {like keeping the web site up to date} since he is trying to roll out the new U web site. :D

regarding earning of base / bonus miles on Star carriers. After doing some research she said that you earn base status miles on all plus the COS. On UA, LH and NH you earn your elite bonus as well. I guess that's better than none, but it would be nice to earn elite bonus on all Star carriers.

so to clarify.....

a business class ticket on Singapore will earn 125% base miles towards Preferred status vs. 100% in coach?
