From a Priority Pass Update sent yesterday

Effective 01 May 2004
US Airways Club Lounges will be restructuring their participation in the Priority Pass program. As a result, the following eight NEW lounges will be available for Priority Pass members and their accompanying guests:

Greensboro, Hartford/Springfield, Indianapolis, London Gatwick South Terminal, Los Angeles, Rochester, Syracuse, West Palm Beach.

Other participating US Airways Club Lounges are: Baltimore/Washington International Airport, Philadelphia (Terminal A West, Mezzanine Level).

With this restructuring, Priority Pass is pleased to announce that we will be adding five new airports to our network of participating cities: Hartford, Greensboro, Indianapolis, Rochester and Syracuse.

Due to these changes, the following US Airways Club Lounges will no longer be participating in the Priority Pass program:

Boston - Logan International.
Charlotte/Douglas - Int'l Concourse B & C.
Washington DC - National - Terminal C.
New York - La Guardia International - US Airways Terminal.
Philadelphia - Terminal F and Terminal A West between Concourse B & C.
Pittsburgh - Airside Core & Concourse B.

Perhaps US Airways is expecting a ton of Star Golds to appear at the dropped Clubs now that they are a member of the Star Alliance. They're looking after their own customers first.

Perhaps there is some propeller-headed beancounter sitting in CCY wondering why ANYONE would buy one of the myriad options of Club memberships offered by the US Airways Club when the same access can be had for less with a RCC membership or a Priority Pass membership???

Trust me that this is the least of the beancounter's problems. Number 1 is keeping the airline flying!

Think of it as a multi-airline club membership.

I am incredibly excited that they have reinstated access to the US Airways Club in GSO, a really great club with very helpful staff. Does this mean that there will be no access for PP members at the hub airports though? So there are no clubs in CLT now for Priority Pass? Is this correct?

I believe (not positive) that Philadelphia's a hub, so theres still one left that I Know of.

My US club membership expires in July. Now that GSO is open with a Priority Pass, I will be selecting that option this year.

Although...I doubt the club at GSO will be open for more than a few years. When CLT is no longer a hub and the fares at CLT are the cheapest in the SE due to Southwest Air becoming the predominant carrier at CLT, the CLT folks will stop driving to GSO and the GSO folks will start driving to CLT. Added to this....the rest of the textile mills will shut down, the remaining banking operations in the triad will move to CLT, the furniture production will end up in China, and one of the furniture market weeks will move the Las Vegas. Thus, business trips out of the triad will be cut in half and GSO will end up looking like the Hickory and Pinehurst airports.
