US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-FlightFund Merger) - Can you check in online more than 24 hours before scheduled departure?

Just wondering. I have a flight that leaves at 8 pm tomorrow and would like to check in from work around 7 pm. Don't want to hang around another hour just so I can improve my chances of getting the upgrade -- but I know there's only one seat left so it might be worth it. Printer at home is broken. Can I just check-in at home but not print boarding pass? Then recheck in later -- would that drop me to the bottom of the list?
Again, I'm CP flying transcon tomorrow and want to make sure I get the one open FC seat (assuming it is not bought in next 24 hours).

No, you can not check prior to 24 hours. And it goes by their system time and literally means 24 hours to the second.
Yes, you can check in at home and (and I think you must) try to print your boarding passes. When you get to a printer that works go through the process again. This time it will only let you re-print you passes. The second process will not change you position on the waitlist.
Hope this helps

You can check in at home, try to print the boarding passes - even though they wont. Then go to the airport, go to the counter and just tell them it checked you in, but you couldnt get them to print, they will just give you new boarding passes. Ive done it plenty of times when I couldnt get to a printer...or just wanted real cardstock tickets :D

From what a few GAs have told me, they actually prefer it when people have the US cardstock. Less mess for them to deal with. I often times forget the printouts at home, and I've never had a problem.

I believe there's even an option on the kiosks now that says "reprint boarding pass."
David
Does that mean if you use the kiosk to re-print your boarding pass you will get the bonus miles for web check-in AND kiosk check-in?

Yes SS255, it has been posted here somewhere that this works. I tried it recently but haven't posted yet because it hasn't been 3 weeks yet since the flights. Will confirm when they post.
I tried it a couple of times by swiping my DM card; the kiosk asked for my DM# for security reasons; then went into the regular sequence of screens; and to my surprise it DID NOT print my boarding passes. Had to go to the TA to get them which they gladly do. Hopefully the button metioned in the post below fixes all that. On one flight it even gave me 100 miles to my sur-prize.
SS255 they are all posted now as of edit date below. :D

Gee anyway of synchronizing my computer clock to their system clock. The gate agent told me what time I checked in recently but didn't mention the seconds. Next time I will ask, synchronize relative to my watch, and reset my computer clock. Any easier ideas? Do purchased itenaries display a time in seconds.

yes and yes. download atomic clock sync. It syncs to the navy atomic clock as do most computer programs on the web. and yes, they see the time you checked in, in seconds.

Cooke, got a link for ACS? Is it free? Who ever thought that getting the upgrade would turn into rocket science!

I have always been curious in Sabre what Sine shows up when you do web check in. Normally you will notice your e-ticket cardstock boarding pass will show something like XYZ/BOS which means agent XYZ in BOS check you in. Or the kiosk will show KO7/BOS. Again always in the top right hand corner of your BP. What does it show in the internal system for web check in?

Nice pickup lambdachi. I have recently flown on two consecutive days around 7:45A from PHL and been frustrated by being able to online checkin 24 hr in advance for the first day and unable to do so for the second because I already boarded for the first day's flight. Thank you US. ^
