Hertz - Hertz Germany: Downgrade and broken promises

Hi,

I had the "pleasure" of renting a car from Hertz Germany for the first time. I made a reservation online for a Premium car at the station in Aachen. Website and confirmation email both say "Car class: Jaguar S-Type w/ Navigation system or similar". BTW, I'm a Gold.

A few days before the rental date I send an email to the station and asked if I really will get a Jaguar. They answered: "It will be a Jaguar or Mercedes E class, guaranteed!". OK, I thought I will be fine.

On the day of rental at the station they did not have a Jaguar. They did not have a Mercedes. They did not have a single premium car!

All they had available was a little BMW (which s***ks big time!). This was a Intermediate or Full size. Of course they lowered the price, but I still don't get it.. I made a reservation 2 weeks ahead and they can not get a single Premium car?

I had no hopes to get a Jaguar, but I had hopes to get a Mercedes at least...

What are your experiences? Did this happens regular at Hertz?

I already made a few reservations at Hertz over the next weekends and I'm not sure if I should cancel them. I don't want to get stuck in a Intermediate car again...

First, GOLD means nothing at Hertz (in Europe). In the US it's a nice service.
Second, I seldom reserve such Premium Cars.. :D
Next, I never expect to get the car I reserved with Hertz in smaller towns. Big stations FRA, MUC generally have what I reserved.
Regarding car selections, believe Sixt is the better choice. I have gotten nice cars, new models from Sixt in FRA and MUC. And I have even seen Porsches in ther parking garage...
