GoFares make a MR to LAX from PHL a beautiful thing. I'm considering a single day trip in mid-July after the low rates are in effect. I'd arrive at around 11am and leave at approximately 10pm. How should I spend my day? I've never been to LA. Research shows a Radisson at the airport; anyone know if they have day rates? Thanks in advance for your thoughts. Let me know if you want to go--triple miles plus usual bonuses! :D

I've been thinking about doing the same thing.
Let me know when you're going. :)
I'm thinking of doing the same thing. Take the 8AM flight PHL-LAX, spend the day, and then catch the redeye back.

I did a run from RDU to LAX a while ago with exactly the same schedule (morning flight out and redeye back the same day). The great thing about LAX is that hotels and rental cars are very cheap, so you won't have to be stuck in the airport all day.
Whenever I'm there for leisure I rent an economy car from Dollar for only $16 a day plus tax...a shuttle bus leaves to/from the airport every five minutes around the clock. Since a car is pretty much a necessity in southern California, this is an inexpensive and convenient way to get around.
As far as hotels, I go on Priceline and bid anywhere from $39 for a two-star hotel to $59 for a three-star. I would suggest *not* getting a hotel in the LAX area if you're renting a car, since most of the hotels near the airport charge $15 or so for parking. The best area to stay in is Manhattan/Redondo Beach (you can select this area on Priceline) since it's convenient to LAX and has free parking.
Have a great trip...I think you'll enjoy a quick day in LA.

JUL 20 PHL LAX #17
JUL 20 LAX PHL #46
$198 gets me 19160 miles as US2 (if I calculated correctly). I may have to do this more than once!

undefinedI did LAX MR two weeks ago in a 1100am out 1000pm. Got a budget car for $17 including taxes and drove to the Getty north about 10 miles. $5 parking and free admission. If you like art you kill three to four hours. Just watch the Traffic as the ride back can take about 45 minutes and sometimes more. If you like the ponies you can go to Hollywood Park or Santa Anita for wagering about 20 minutes.
I might be looking at doing a couple SFO- Fort Lauderdale this summer as well! each would give me 7000 prefered miles, and 28000 miles total! 3 would give me 84000 miles! Not bad, for probably around $7-800!

Ok, Since the BofA triple miles program is still going for 3x preffered miles, I am thinking about doing the same thing. RDU-CLT-LAX arriving 1015am local time, departing 1115am local time LAX-CLT-RDU. Do you all think this is enough turn around time? This will yeild me, a silver 20230 preffered miles and gold status...thoughts?
JLM_USAIR... Without knowing the date and flights numbers, this would seem to me like they would use the same equipment. anybody else can confirm?

Synd, think twice about connecting through PHL and get mileage. This has not been confirmed by any body here yet. Be safe with separate itenaries.
Rukes state 'between the phl and the 20 cities' = O&D traffic only
My parents are doing AVP-PHL-LAX on Wed, 5/12, so I should have a confirmation to this quandary as soon as their miles post. (Now I just gotta make sure they register for the promo.)

GoFares MUST originate and complete at the GoFare cities. Transiting PHL to goto a GoFare city will not net you the miles.
For example PHL-CLT-LAX will net you GoFare bonus miles but ABE-PHL-LAX will not.
Confirmed by DMSC today.

oops! Chavez Ravine is about 20 miles away from LAX. Or is Cheves revine how you say it with a philly accent? :D
