Hilton HHonors - St. Louis Airport: Hilton or Doubletree Club?

Looks like an HHonors award fire sale going on at STL, a worst-hit airport for lost traffic. Both the above properties offer Point Stretchers. Which is preferable in terms of room fittings, views, pool, access to Metrolink?
Thanks. :)

I have no information about the Doubletree Club, but I have stayed at the airport Hilton and it is possible to use the hotel's free airport shuttle to access the light rail stop that is at the airport. The problem is with the airport shuttle. It can take a while for it to come once you return to the airport, and it takes a while to leave the hotel when you want to go to the airport. I needed to go to downtown St. Louis each day for a convention. In other respects, I also thought the St. Louis airport Hilton was sub par. Thus, the only time I could ever stay at the St. Louis airport Hilton again is when I actually need to stay at a hotel close to the airport.

Have stayed twice at the DT. I think it just fine. Good room overlooking the runway. Very fast shuttle service to the airport. Building is a little "tired" but they've tried hard. Good free breakfast. Yummy (and suprisingly inexpensive) made-right-now sandwiches for supper.
And right across the street from a Steak and Shake
That clinched it.

As someone who stayed at about every STL airport property in the last few years, I can honestly say that both Doubletree Club and Hilton are somewhat sub-par right now. Status recognition can be spotty at both properties (actually, it's worse at the Hilton). Shuttle wise, both run free shuttle to the airport (Hilton is a bit closer, and shuttles run on schedule, every 20 minutes). Metrolink stop is right at the airport. Free breakfast is better at the Doubletree, rooms are a little better at the Hilton, but make sure to request the new wing. Staff seems to try harder at the Doubletree.
A couple years ago, Doubletree was one of my favorite STL airport properties, but since management changed there, I had to withdraw my endorsement. If staying within the Hilton family is not a requirement, my vote goes to the Renaissance. Even as a lowly Silver I was always upgraded there, once to the Governor Suite, all on supercheap weekend rates.

I stayed at the Doubletree Club about six months ago. The room was big, clean...but it wasn't anything extraordinary. I would stay there again, but it isn't going to knock your socks off.
