I remember those heavy weight wine glasses which BA used through the 1980s in First Class. Compared to the current variety, these are classics.

Wow! What an amazing site! Thanks for the link as I'd read about it somewhere here but didn't know its full name etc.
What I did find amazing was how cheap the amenity kits are. Have they never thought of selling them as part of their duty free goods range to economy class passengers? I'm sure some people will say that that might lower that status of the kit, but if you've got 300 odd Y class pax on a 747 and only a few buy something that they might not have spent their money on, then it will surely help BA's bottom line.

Oz,
As it seems that you historically flit in and out of forums for a short period of time I was wondering whether you actually did any search whatsoever before posting a link that has been posted here many times before, or if you legitimately found it from some other source.
While I may be a "model" as you state with various qualities, I cannot really recall any advice or comments at all that you have made on FT for a year or so.

Well hfly appears to be the sole self-appointed arbiter of that and writing the new rules. Notwithstanding he/she has posted far less in this Forum than I have in the past month or two, as if that is any of his business. Glen,
In the close to 2,000 posts which I have made on Flyertalk, I do not believe that I have once mentioned nor lampooned the fact that I am a member of the Talkboard.
I asked you a very simple question, although I may have rubbed you the wrong way in the manner which I asked it. It was basically whether you thought it was valuable to recycle information which has been posted here many times as something new and novel.
I should note that in the period where you made yourself very unpopular with many on FT that I actually supported and defended you on many occasions (not included in that would be the brief, but good-natured exchange that we had on the DL board once upon a time). In light of that, I am quite disturbed at the vitriol which you have set forth in this thread.
Let us look at the timeline of this thread, and let's see how I perceive what has occurred.
1. You post a link that has been kicking around here for quite a long time.
2. I ask in a slightly smartass way whether you actually used the search feature on FT to find the link.
3. You answer was incredibly smartass, implying various things about me and my character.
4. I state the well known fact that you historically flit in and out of boards, and then restate my original question and am curious as to whether you found it from another source.
Believe it or not, knowing that you are into philitelia and the like, I wonder whether you did source this from somewhere else.
I then reply to your personal attack by just stating that I can not recall any good/bad impartial or other advice coming from you over the last year or so.
I should note that in your previous post you did not answer my question.
5. You continue the attack by attacking me in almost an insane manner. Still not answering my inquiry, but accusing me of a multitude of sins.
The ball is now in your court.

hfly. Chill out please. I flew Concorde [and BA Club World] recently so have an interest in threads relating to it. I posted the Avrohouse website link in response to someone here asking on this board about Concorde goodies they might be able to buy.
I am sure that link too has been posted numerous times in the past. So what? That person was appreciative to learn of it. When in that website, I saw the link to the bulk supplies of ex BA crystal glassware, amenity packs, etc. Had never seen or heard of it before.
So I posted it here, as it was of interest to ME. And it seems abundantly clear it was of interest to others here by the posts above, yours excluded.
What search words would you suggest someone use if they had the time (I do not) to comply with your completely ridiculous assertion all new posts must never have been here before. "Crystal glassware ex BA First Class". "Bulk sales of amenity Packs". Go do a search on them and see if YOU get any matches via this archaic FT search engine. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif
You will NOT. Search on 'glassware' or 'Amenity packs' and you will probably get 1000 matches, none of them to do with that website most likely. And it will take 30 minutes clicking on each one to find that out.
A FT'er was on chat last night and thanked me for this link. He is involved in fund raising for a school or whatever, and the committee has decided to buy some of these items now he has pointed it out, as they feel they will sell well, at a nice profit, and raise money for a good cause. That makes me feel good, that this link has provided something positive for others. I can live with that. That is WHAT FT is all about I think. Assisting others in flyer related areas.
I do agree you posed your post in a 'smartass way' (your quote) and yes you did "rub me up the wrong way in the way you asked it" (your quote again) so I think you have answered your own question. IMO there was no need whatever for EITHER of your first 2 posts above. Just my 2¢. Others can agree or disagree.
If I offended you I apolgise but I think many others would have posted in a far more pointed way than I did had you posted about them the same way, when simply passing on information that has shown to have been unknown to others here before I did so.
And I guess someone with over 8,000 posts on FT does tend to "flit around" the Forums here on FT. Goes without saying. Other than Doc and Rudi I guess I have posted in more Forums than anyone else on FT. I have never read the rule that says this is now prohibited by Randy. Please email it to me or post it here for all to see. And the fact I have made a number of BA flights this month of course is irrelevant to this discussion I suppose?

Oz,
Thank you for finally answering the question.
I made no such assertion (as you assert) whether something could be posted ANY amount of times. I ASSERTED nothing, ridiculous or otherwise. I only asked in my original post where you got your info from. I just like you have the right to ask or post what I want as long as it is in the FT rules and Regs.
As for your next assertation, I do not wish to check out all possible boolean strings, but if one were to include Concorde, souveniers, or possibly even avro, it would take much less then the 30 minutes which you assert.
I have in no way ever claimed nor wanted to speak on Randy's behalf, and in your last paragraph you either are claiming that I am trying/claiming to do so, or that you have some special dispensation to make statements such as this.
Oz, back to basics. This thread is not about rules and regulations. It is not about FT. It is not about Randy, the Talkboard or anything else. It was about me asking you a valid question, which I admit was asked in a glib tone (and you are one of the alltime great experts in Smartass comments on FT) and then you flipping out and then "tossing babies from the sled" in trying to justify your comments.

I'm just one of the regular 'readers', and I for one wouldn't have had the foggiest idea that BA were selling up the family treasures, so I found it interesting to know.....however, I also wouldn't have the faintest idea how to search for 'BA linen', even if I were in the market for such items. To me, even if a link has been quoted before, I don't see the harm in repeating it. In fact when I have asked for advice, a previous link has sometimes been provided, which I really appreciate. On a,perhaps, morbid note, I am about to update my will...and am wondering whether to post a new topic on the do's and don'ts and whether miles are transferable etc. etc. I bet however, that somewhere along the line, this has been discussed before, but hopefully there is no harm in raising it again ?

Which I am assured has been posted here "many times before"
I await with interest to see the allegedly oft repeated threads indexed here that have been made highlighting THAT offer.
It is in an obscure corner of the avro website, and some of the above links offer no way whatever to access it that I can see. Which if some of the 'armchair experts' here would like to check just might interest them.

No ScottC, the Avro website is NOT at all easy to navigate around if coming in on a specific page link. I suggest you get a stopwatch and try and find the pallet surplus page, even if you know what you are searching for, from the Concorde items link below you complain about. Yes, Joh did order the solid silver luggage tag. That link got posted yes, [and by many others apart from us], but getting from it to the home page is quite an effort, due to rather poor web design:
Yes, the BA audio selections for August to Africa are probably buried on the BA website if you have 10 minutes to go searching for them from the main site. But they are not on a direct link either.
At the risk of spamming us all, perhaps you or hfly or others above can help us ScottC with posting right here the allegedly countless FT thread links from the past pointing DIRECTLY to the one I typed this thread about, viz:
http://www.avrohouse.co.uk/pallet1026.htm

From a casual observer it seems like those who initially complained against "ozstamps" have an extreme feeling of ownership of this board. Perhaps that is somewhat justified by their number of posts and the longevity of participation.
Unfortunately, from mine and many others perspective, we do not give a sh*t about what personal qualms you have with each other. I find ozstamps informative as well as many of his detractors. If you do not like what each other is posting (without breaking official rules), perhaps you should ask Randy to set up a complainers forum. That way you can link to each others threads and b**ch all you want. I'll be sure to visit that forum after a few beers. Otherwise, what the hell does the last several posts do to make FT a fun place to visit? Who wants to look through threads about people infighting.
Again, I find ozstamps and other's posts interesting when they regard travel. Otherwise, why would I come to FT? I have aspirations of meeting many of you at some FT gathering because I find most people here extremely interesting; however, I do pray that such events are carried out in better form than this.

I take it from Oz's admission that he did troll the site from the numerous other times it was posted. He has not admitted it directly, but through his answers which show some ignorance or the internet, it would see that he would have been incapable of finding it himself. Furthermore by adding the small fact that he put in a link to a totally different page, basically admits it.
The obsfucation is that Oz, the king of innuendo and smartass comments on FT, deemed it necessary to be very insulting towards me, put words in my mouth, misrepresent his intentions, because someone asked him a simple straight forward question.
As he is so into getting "back" to the point, which he himself digressed from (and hey, he himself made a posting for the SAME EXACT SITE on a different thread the same day), perhaps he should also do something about the evil vitriol which oozes from his fingers and try specifically apologizing for his insults.

OK after a restful sleep it seems clear that not one of the doubting luminaries above HAS actually been able to find a single specific thread here in this Forum that has ever pointed to the existence of the extremely cheap pallet deals on ex-BA merchandise that I posted about.
Or more likely none has been found after a frantic hour of wasted time fruitlessly looking for one to post here and say: "HA ... gotcha oz."

So I will let this thread stand now as a mute testament that in all likelihood no such thread ever existed. That is great Oz as my original question had to do with placing a link to the "place" i.e AVRO, not pallet deals or anything else. That was pretty clear. It's great that you have taken a day and a half to come up with this excuse for your actions.
Too bad you didn't think this up in the first place. It would have saved a lot of bandwidth. Your slowing down in your old age!
Directions
1. In a small bowl stir together the butter, half of the shallot or onion, and the lemon peel; sprinkle with salt and coarsely ground pepper. Set aside.
2. Rinse fish; pat dry with paper towels. Spread each fish open and place skin sides down. Rub the remaining shallot or onion and the rosemary onto fish. Sprinkle with additional salt and pepper and drizzle with lemon juice and olive oil.
3. Grill fish, skin sides down, on the greased rack of an uncovered grill directly over medium coals for 6 to 8 minutes or just until fish begins to flake easily.
4. Meanwhile, place tomatoes, cut sides up, on grill rack; dot each with 1/4 teaspoon of the butter mixture. Grill tomatoes about 5 minutes or until heated through. Remove fish and tomatoes from grill. Cut each fish in half lengthwise. In a small saucepan melt the remaining butter mixture; serve with fish and tomatoes. Sprinkle fish with parsley. Makes 4 servings.

Sorry, just playing "Ozstamps Bingo". You can play too if you like. The game is quite simple. Just start reading any thread and as soon as any 4 of the items listed below have been posted by the Ozmeister himself shout "House!".
The items are:-
1. A reference to how many posts he makes.
2. An implication that another poster's lesser number of posts invalidates their opinion.
3. A reference to a recent/upcoming flight which has nothing to do with the topic of thread, but is meant to add importance to Ozstamps' opinion.
4. "Do you do as much for charity as I do?"
5. Ignoring points that blow bus-sized holes in his argument by moving on to tangential matters.
6. "I demanded categorical proof. Since you did not provide it I must be right."
7. An assertion to Randy's opinion, even though Randy has not offered it.
8. A call for an end to the thread (so Ozstamps can have the last word).
There are probably others. This is an open-forum game - please feel free to add them to the list.
