Other Car Rental Programs/Partners (ie. Alamo, Enterprise, Sixt) - $ 15 / day weekend rate at LAX

Checking for an alternative to the often less than friendly LAX cab drivers, on the spur of the moment I called a couple of car rentals upon arrival this past SA evening at LAX.
Alamo came back with $ 15.05 for a 1-day rental on a compact. Total was $ 16.32 incl. all taxes. Needless to say I was very pleased with this offer, came out to about 1/2 of my cab fare!

Thrifty offered the same size car for $ 18.99

Full collision Insurance in CA for economy - compac is only an additional $9.00. In the winter and spring, Alamo's weekend rates were even lower at around $13.95.

LAX and SNA both have the cheapest weekend rates I've ever seen. It is always a better choice than a cab EXCEPT that there is now where to park and the hotels charge $20+.

If you're staying at a hotel near LAX, there's often a parking space available on the street...not always the safest place but preferable to paying an exorbitant fee for valet parking IMHO.

Downtown LA has many lots charging only $5 per day a few blocks from some of the big hotels.

Cheap car rentals = one of the many things I enjoy about LAX!

Fortunately CDW is covered by my insurance/Mileage Plus Visa CC.
Those rates are indeed a great alternative to cabs, I hadn't even bothered to check for a long time. They're now on my list.
