I am thinking about buying one of these from Expansys.com for c.$450.

Currently my provider is T-Mobile USA and I was waiting for their new batch of phones to arrive before shopping for a new phone. They have just released the Nokia 6600, but the price is unreasonable IMO at $399.

The 6230 seems to be a better deal, even from this third party store. Is the price decent? How is the phone to use?

I'd stick to a 6600, much more features and more options with new software.

And, it's just $489...

Keep in mind that the 6600 on T-mo will probably drop very soon, expect it to be around $200 after rebates on Amazon.com.

What additional features? I looked at the specs of both phones and aside from the bigger LCD and series 60 OS there doesn't seem to be any benefits to it. The 6230 is more cmpact too.

Not sure why you'd recommend that site considering T-Mo are selling it for 90$ less.

Even if it does drop by $200 on Amazon, that price will be for new activation.

I think the major advantage is that the 6230 has high speed data (class 10 GPRS and EDGE) Unfortunately, EDGE isnt out yet on TMobile US. As to the 6600, I agree that it is very likely the price through TMobile will drop a lot in the near future. Also, the current, relatively new TMobile policy will give customers who renew a contract the same price as new customers. Tmobile is alledged to be again changing their renewal/retention policy in May to something that is rumored to be even better for renewing customers. You might want to wait a month and see what shakes out.

two different markets

the 6600 is part of the smartphone breed (e.g. when the days comes that PDA and cell phones merge)

the 6820 is a great 40 series phone.

tmobile has the 6600 now.

disclosure: my 6820 should arrive next week.

Ah, 6820 is one Im real interested in. I do a fair amount of text messaging plus it has EDGE, although not as fast as the 6230. My main concerns with the 6600 are no EDGE and what I consider to be a pretty useless OS. I could never use it as a PDA due to the OS, although the web browser in the 6600 would be nice.

We saw one, since we work closely with HS/PO

I don't know what the model will be. My understanding was May-Jun timeframe, I am waiting for that one.

That is sounding like a purchase to me ;) About time to replace my Treo90 with SDIO BT card.

On T-mobile? Most Best Buy's sell them for $299, so does CompUSA (on plan).

Best buy only stocks the CDMA version from Sprint at $549 and CompUSA's GSM version is $674.99. Both prices are from the web sites.

T-Mo's web site doesn't list it either.
