I have a 6 hour / afternoon layover in terminal 4 in july.
Can you give me update on restaurants / things to do ?
Is there a american or continental lounge in the airport ?
Is there a hotel attached to the airport ?
Thanks

No hotel attached but many close although I dont suggest you walk to them. Plenty of shuttles. Personally I'd go to Venice Beach its close and can be entertaining for the kids. There is a CO has a lounge as does AA. Manhatten beach is also close some things to do and see. If you are looking for a hotel room I'd try Barnaby's in Manhatten Beach. Barnaby's has more charm than the airport hotels.....

A taxi can get you down to Manhattan Beach in 15 minutes. Beachwalking, restaurants, shops including TOY STORES, ice cream stands... much better than the airport, and then the kids will conk out and sleep on your next travel leg.

If you go on down to Manhattan Beach the kids can even swim in the Pacific Ocean. I moved away 6 yrs ago :( but I understand there are now lots of movie stars :-: there too - might really make the kids day :D

Just make sure you have a place to hose 'em down and wash their hair before they get back in the air... in my younger days I jumped out of the sea and on my way back to SEA still damp... pretty uncomfortable by the time you get there. ;)

I second the idea of Venice Beach for a July afternoon. The beach front promenade is easy walking, features many restaurants and diverse forms of entertainment.
The beach has gentle waves and there are changing rooms with showers.
If your onward trip is trans pacific, the kids will sleep well and require less attention onboard the aircraft.

Hi Tymike1,
Please take note of the "Welcome to MilesBuzz - Read me first post at the top of the forum.
Because this has nothing to do with miles or points, I'm going to move it over to Localtalk - LAX

Venice is great for people watching (sword swallowers, chain saw jugglers, mimes, tarot card readers and Muscle Beach).
Manhattan Beach has lots of little shops and a good beach to swim in and there are showers/restrooms next to the pier.
