I tried to find the following 3 Las Vegas Hilton properties on Hilton's site but can not find them.
- Flamingo Hilton
- Ballys
- Paris
I know you can book them via the Park Place site, but I wanted to compare booking via Park Place and via Hilton's Online site. Hilton's online site would give me the 2500 online booking so I wanted to see if it was better to do it through Hilton Online.
Can these properties be booked via Hilton.com?

Just got my e-statement - and got the following nice message there:
Beginning June 30, 2004, Bally's Las Vegas, Paris Las Vegas, and the Flamingo Las Vegas will no longer participate in the Hilton HHonors program and vacation reward packages will no longer be available for redemption at these hotels. You can still enjoy HHonors benefits at 14 Hilton Family hotels in Las Vegas, Reno and Atlantic City. For a complete directory of Hilton Family hotels participating in Hilton HHonors, visit
Thanks. Guess it was just a matter of time. I'll sneak in a couple more stays before the change and then probably not stay at any of these properties again in the foreseeable future. Can't help but wonder how much business they will lose from HHonors customers.
The good news for those of us who stay at the LV Hilton is that it still counts. At least for now.

I am a Regular Ballys/Paris guy as well. I just planned out my May schedule and have 4 stays booked already between the two properties. Business brings me to Vegas every week, often for multiple nights.
I will be returning to the LV Hilton after June 30th. It sometimes reminds me of a giant Motel 6, but I have to admit that I always get upgraded to a "suite" and they take really good care of me.

I'll miss those 3. As well as being able to check-in at the airport, always got great service and GREAT upgrades at the airport.
More important although there will still be the LVHilton, the ability to switch hotels each night and get 3-4 stay credits each time will now be history. The DT is out by the airport, the Embassys as well as the Hamptons are too costly. So I guess it'll have to be spilt bet the LVH and The Westin(SPG).
Guess Ill still be able to get 1 or max 2 more runs out of the place B4 its curtains on us all.

FYI, could always stay at the new Westin LV! I will be trying it out in October because I refuse to stay at the LV Hilton. Better to get *W points than stay at a dump like the LV Hilton! IF *W purchase of LeMeridien goes through, Venetian will be another alternative for earning *W points in LV. Right now you can only get LeMeridien points there.

Hi,
Dang!! If I had known about this 2 weeks ago I would have shifted my stay at the LV Hilton on 9th April to Paris ( to enjoy the HH Diamond staus benefits) even though LV Paris was over $100 per night more expensive than the Hilton. Now I will never get to do it ( sob!!)
If i'm in LV during the summer, it is one place where I am happy to foresake HH points ( I love the Mandalay Bay and can get it in June for around $100 per night on most weekday nights)

Will miss the nice suite at Paris. We stayed there April 4th and were upgraded and treated well. They have already discontinued the gold room key to use as a line pass. As Diamond we did get free access to the lounge.
Also visited a suite in Mandalay Bay where friends were staying. It was better than the Calais! No pop up T.V. but a great L shape with floor to ceiling windows and a nice bar and dining area.

There's always the Hampton. When in Las Vegas on business I've always stayed at the Hampton Inn. It may sound strange but it's only because they have coffee pots in the rooms (hey I have my priorities). The one in Summerlin is not bad - and not too expensive. Although this is just when I go on business. I admit it wouldn't be first choice for a pleasure trip. But if you are there on business and as one poster mentioned - you need 3 or 4 stays....

Yes, xyzzy we will have to pay for the suite at Mandalay - they do offer an upgrade based on availability at check-in for 50 or 100 bucks.
Kathnunley,
Nice to know I'm not the only one that bases where I stay on the coffee pot in the room. That was the major drawback to the Paris Calais room. How can they make a room with 1000's of square feet and not put in a coffee pot!

Sad as this news is, I will continue to stay at Paris. They have treated me very well over the years with great offers, great discounts, great spa (best massage therapist I've ever had), etc. Once when they were oversold, they put me in a suite at Bally's for a night and I returned the next night to an upgraded room and a $150 food and beverage credit for the "inconvenience." Exactly what leads you to believe this would happen when you lose your HH bennies?
FWIW I (and many others) gave Paris and Ballys a lotta year round business because of the nice extra HH upgrades we received. Without these, the caesars.com properities are not competitive anymore. Far better (and far cheaper) deals will be getting my reservation, convention and gambling business.

I'm sure I've gotten upgraded rooms because of HHonors. However, I doubt whether they had anything to do with the promotional rates I've gotten, the free nights, the food and beverage credit, the percentage off spa services, etc. You don't think Park Place Entertainment (now Caeser's, I believe) has any interest in treating their return guests well? Since I like the property, I'll continue to stay there until they no longer deserve my loyalty.

I've stayed at Bally's for years - primarily because of the Hilton points (although convenience & decent conv rates played a part). Always had regular room; no bennies being Gold.
This trip I was upgraded to a 1,200sqft suite (loved the space, but what a waste on a biz trip - why couldn't it happen when I was there for a romantic weekend - sigh).
Due to getting no extra bennies (short of this trip & other than points), when the points go away I'll switch to Marriott properties next year.

Ahh well.. I liked Bally's and Paris just fine, but honestly I only stayed there because of the points and benefits. This just gives me more of a reason to try out some other hotels in Vegas.
That being said, I doubt this move will cost Bally's and Paris much business. Do you really think they would make such a move if it was going to hurt business? My hunch is that they just decided that the HHonors program was more trouble than it was worth. Parkplace has their own rewards program, and I'm sure having to train staff on two programs was a pain. I'd also imagine that the percentage of people who pick these properties because of their Hilton affiliation is relatively small compared to people who pick the hotels because its Paris and Bally's.
Don't forget the new Conrad in Vegas is being built to go along with the LV Hilton, so HHonors won't be totally shut out of Vegas anyway. Oh well.. I've been looking for a reason to stay at the Venetian for a while. Now I have one. :)

The main reason I stayed at Paris was the suite upgrades for HH Gold. With that gone I will probably divert my Vegas business to Marriott, despite the four (4) mailings from Bally's/Paris this week alone. I don't care for the LV Hilton very much.

I signed up to the M Bay's guest book and got offers via email ( ( $99-$119 depending on the day of travel). Later june tends to be cheaper and then you are into July & August ( probably some of the cheapest rates). $119 is still good in my opinion.
In fact I would have thought offers would be coming out soon.

I booked my "last hurrah" at Paris for June 24-27. I just hope they will honor the benes. Reading the posts it seems I am best served at the VIP/Invited Guest line instead of the airport for a chance at an upgrade?
Also, I had read on the Caesars Entertainment website that they sold the LV Hilton to another company. I am guessing that is the reason for this cessation in benes...

I think it would be interesting to see what the dif in bizness is 1 year from HiltonHonors cessation at the hotels. A lot of folk who come to Vegas do so on bizness & that's more important to them than gambling. With exception of high rollers, not sure the leisure traveler playing the nickel slot machine pays that much for room rates, etc, so losing some of the biz traveler bizness might indeed make a dif. Time will tell.
Speaking only for myself, I value the points so even though I've stayed at Bally's for years I'll switch to a hotel that I get points next time I'm in Vegas & the only reason for the switch is no more HHonors.

Just completed a business trip to Vegas, had never stayed at Paris as a Hilton Diamond before. The invited guest check in line staff was incredible. He said that unfortunately all of the Calais Suites were sold out because of a wine/spirits convention that was using the small suites for actual meeting space. He did point out that they are not supposed to upgrade to the Charlemagne Suite but because there was nothing else available he would. I've never been knocked off my feet by a suite before. Room 3298P, corner suite, overlooking the Strip and Bellagio fountains. Living room with two huge couches with ornate marble coffe table (that scraped the hell out of my leg twice before I re-arranged the furniture). Full dining room table/chandelier, desk/printer area. King bed with canopy and tv that came up out of the cabinet at end of bed. Jacuzzi tub/separate shower, another extra bath. My only complaints with the room were that it never cooled completely properly, especially during the day (although it WAS 98 degrees outside) and I didn't have anyone with me to share it with since this was a business trip.
The concierge did call and verify my Diamond Status even though I presented her with my card. There was a male attendant staffing the lounge in the mornings that was an absolute jerk. I arrived at the lounge at 7 a.m. and inserted my card and the door didn't open. He looked at his watch and huffed over to the door and said that even though I was early, I could come on in. There was a stack of USA Today's in the lounge and I picked one up - got my cup of coffee and started out the door. He ran around in front of me and said that I would not be allowed to steal their newspaper. I have never been so offended. I did talk to the concierge manager later during the day and she assured me that she would have a discussion with him. However, this (along with other things) does remind me that I don't like Las Vegas. For a hotel to charge rates similar to Los Angeles, NYC, SF, etc, they don't even provide their guests with a newspaper. Then if a guest has lounge access, they take the position that you are stealing if you take a USA Today. Bottled water at most locations was $3.25 for a 20 oz bottle. Tea or soft drinks $3 and up. $10 to ride a roller coaster or $9 to ride an elevator.
Aside from my gripe about Vegas, it was a killer upgrade on a $169 a night rate (Maximum room rate for this room was listed at $3,450 per night). Also, I was a bit surprised that neither the invited guest check-in or the concierge was aware that the Hilton benefits were quickly coming to an end.

I had a great upgrade at Bally's last month (although not the telly coming up which i've had at other hotels). Loved it - hated being there on bizness so it was basically wasted. Now that they're out of Hilton chain I'll switch to Marriott. bummer.

Nobody at Ballys/Paris seems to have been told that HHonors Benefits are coming to an end. One employee who was a self professed "old timer" said that she has heard this many times over the last bunch of years and an new agreement materializes at the last minute.
I know that there is not much hope for this, but I am in Vegas very often for business and hope that this might be true!

Out of curiosity, what is your HHonors status (Gold or Diamond) and how much cash do you typically "invest" at the properties in Vegas? I'm wondering if there's a high affinity between high-rollers and top-tier status w/HHonors.
I'm a HHonors Diamond and will put up at least $1k/day on the blackjack tables at Paris. Most times I leave with a little more than what I wagered or break even. (A few times I've lost but don't let my losses become significant.)
I just booked a final fling to Paris in June just to use the HHonors perks before they go away. Hopefully I'll win a few million dollars so I won't need to worry about Diamond perks there :)

Just returned from Las Vegas...
Paris - Checked in on May 31. Given an upgrade to LeMans Suite and access to Lounge on 31st floor. Was told that "this is the last day that Paris recognizes HHonors"
Bally's - Checked in on June 1st. Given standard room but had to change because it was a smoking room. Changed to an suite via the front desk. 3 people at the fron desk told me that Ballys is no longer participating in HHonors as of today. No lounge access.
It looks like I'll get stay credit for Paris but not Bally's. I'm going to call Hilton tomorrow and try to plead my case for stay credit at Bally's. I assumed that I had until end of June until they ended their relationship with Bally's/Paris.
BTW, I'm Hilton Diamond.

You very well may not get points and stay credits, but if you show your Diamond card you may be able to talk your way in to an upgrade. Tell them you have enjoyed the upgrades etc. in the past, and that while the relationship may officially be over, as a gesture of goodwill, you are requesting that they upgrade you, and say something about returning, etc. Hey, I was able to get all kinds of hotel and airline upgrades in college before I had even Silver status with anybody just by schmoozing so don't give up hope! Also put something in the comments when you book online requesting an upgrade due to VIP customer service or whatever. Often if you ask for an upgrade and you look and sound like you know what you are doing they will give you an upgrade whether it is officially allowed or not. Remember that front desk and gate agents have enormous power and discretion. One fellow pax said he thought of gate agents as almost or as powerful as like the police. However, it is indeed disappointing about losing stay credit and points, but I think LAS is more driven by gambling $$$. I have no idea what one would need to spend in order to officially get recognized in the Park Place frequent gambler program. You may want to read Penny Pinchers Guide To Luxury Travel, available at Amazon or other bookstores. The book was largely bashed on FT, but it goes to show my point that these agents can do whatever they want largely based on if they like you regardless of any official rules that may be in place.

If you are counting on this strategy to get upgrades at the former Hilton casino hotels, you are going to be sadly disappointed. It is not enough that you are a frequent guest. The reason why Caesar's (Park Place) has a casino card is so you can prove you are worthy of those upgrades and so the hotel doesn't have to guess whether you are real or fake. I will assume most of us here at FT are fakers. :) Many a casino guest have tried to fake their way to get comps without gambling enough and have mostly failed. Using Caesar's casino card to gain status will most likely result in a large negative return and you will end up having overpaid for the suite via the slot machine or tables.

The players clard carries no weight with the front desk at Bally's/Paris, and in general there is no such thing as an upgrade because you are a good casino player. It is up to the casino host to bring you in to a certain room type. Being nice is an excellent strategy for getting an upgrade, as is a discreet $20 bribe to the desk clerk.

They basically told me that HHonors benefits were OVER as of May 31. They said that the sale of the Las Vegas Hilton closed sooner than expected so suite upgrades and lounge access were over starting June 1.
This was interesting to me since I called the 800 reservation line earlier today and asked them to put my HHonors number in the record. They did without hesitation.
So, I guess I will see what the deal is tomorrow when I get to Vegas.

I stayed at Ballys last week too but they basically said that the relationship with Hilton HHonors ended on May 31. I did get a high floor room.

Checked in to Paris today. They made it clear that the program is over.No upgrades, no lounge, etc. One person said effective May 31, another said June 1 and another June 2nd. They all say that "corporate" has made it very clear to the front line employees that the program is OVER.
The Diamond Desk said that they will honor stays until June 30 for points.
It is just to bad that the customers are caught in the middle of the crossfile between HHilton Honors and Caesars Entertainment.
Why can't we all just get along? LOL

I arrive tomorrow for a weekend visit to the Las Vegas Paris.
I got a message from the front office manager who said that while the arrangement did end on June 1, they will "honor perks in which Diamond members were accustomed to" if they mention the June 30 emailing at check-in.
However, I also received a conflicting message from the Diamond Desk at HHilton. Basically, they said there weren't any perks/privledges from the start. "The Paris Las Vegas Hotel is a gaming property and they do not upgrade or offer Diamond benefits as the other properties do. They have never offered any perks. You may request an upgrade, but it is going to be up to the hotel."
The note from the hotel itself is a little more promising, so I'll report on what exactly happens. In a best case scenario, I'll get a LeMans Suite and be able to walk out with $5million in winnings and a few hundred HHonors points. Worse case, I'll get no upgrade, no HHonors points, and leave behind a little donation :)

I was upgraded June 2nd. Becareful! I paid extra for a room with a view. The FD clerk said, I can upgrade you...I said OK. Going up I was thinking that I would probably loose my view....Well I did loose my view! I was looking at a WALL! So I phoned the FD and was moved to a HUGE suite with a view. No extra charge. At check-in they said no high floors available.
PS. Don't forget to ask for access to 30th floor and the Concierge Club. Great breakfast and happy hour cocktails! Sometimes they claim one or the other but NOT both just ask and you shall receive. Good luck!

Good Luck! The conciege desk at Paris is in charge of the lounge. $35 gets you and a guest in for 1 day. They claim that they are not waiving it. (I have stayed at Ballys and or Paris 15 times since mid-February.

I checked into Paris tonight and got my upgrade :)
At check-in I showed my HHonors Diamond card. The agent apologized and said they weren't accepting the HHonors card beyond June 1; I showed the letter the hotel manager sent me mentioning that they'd honor HHonors through the end of the month. Once I did that, without any hounding on my part or hesitation on their's, they upgraded me to a beautiful suite on the 32nd floor. (Afterwards, I asked the agent about the HHonors split and asked if a lot of guests were asking about it. She said a lot of Gold/Diamond members have been surprised about the news of the split and it's been a tough habbit to break of giving out upgraded rooms/entering HHonors numbers into the folios.) She did say there was no mechanism now for entering my HHonors number into the folio, so I'll just fax a copy of my bill to HHonors.
I have the Charlamagne suite with sweeping views of the city/strip from the 5 large windows in the room. The suite includes a dining room, living room w/wet bar, a guest bath... and a master bedroom with master bath complete with jetted tub, separate toilet room, and separate shower stall.
This was the best upgrade I've ever received at this resort... so I will definitely miss the HHonors perks beyond June 30. (And not a bad deal since I'm here on a $99/night promotional weekend rate.)
As far as the lounge, the front desk said that it is staffed/managed separately from the hotel and that I'd need to go there to see if they too would waive the fee for access. However, as part of the promotional rate, my room comes with $100 in food/drink credit, so I'll just eat/drink in a real resteraunt rather than in a concierge lounge.

Hey Wetherboy,
How about a copy of the letter via e mail. I coming in on Thursday night and I'd love one more upgrade before it's too late.

This seems strange as many of the lounge attendents I know state are employed by Caesars Inc and often work the concierge counter downstairs.

Finally had a chance to call HHonors Diamond Desk about my stay at Paris on May 31 and at Bally's on the 1st. No soap for stay credit. Very apologetic...I felt like he really understood the frustration.
He did throw a bone, 3000 HHonors points.
Any thoughts on other Hilton properties on the strip? I've heard extremes on the experiences at the Hilton down by the convention center.
Peace

My luck (with roooms) at the LV Hilton has been great. Always get a really nice room and upgrade. Problem is who wants to stay there? Location is BAD, the casino is small and disappointing. Resturant selections are weak. Star trek is cool but after a visit or two enough is enough. I wish Hilton had a serious hotel/casino in Vega$.

My stay credit for my weekend stay (6/11-6/13) at Paris posted quickly.
Yesterday, I faxed over a copy of my statement to HHonors and today, the points/credit for the stay are showing in my online credit. I earned points for all incidentals charged to the room.

Well no luck today when checking in for the night for the upgrade. Guess I'll forward my invoice to HH for my points.
Things are so screwed up at check in, that their computers are down again and they had me staying at Bally's instead of the Paris.
They got it straightened out and I received a decent room overlooking the pool and the fountains.
Did someone mention that they're opening a Conrad soon?

It must be a mess with 2000-4000 room hotels with screwed-up computers. I thought the pool and the (Bellagio?) fountains are on opposite sides of the Paris Hotel?

Pool to the South, fountains to the West. Quite possible to have a room with a view of both, although a complete pool view would not provide a complete fountain view and vice-versa.

Just got back from a 2 night stay at Paris LV. We were upgraded to a Lemans suite ( absolutely wonderful) and had access to the lounge on the 31st floor. The lounge is one of the best with large shrimp cocktail and some of the best desserts around served from 5-8. They ask your name and room number as soon as you enter the lounge and look it up in the computer. We were told HH will no longer be accepted into the lounge after the 30th of June. Too bad it was a great perk.

TMPY - where did you check in? Did you have to beg for the benefits? I have one last stay at Paris on Wednesday June 23. Last time I was there they upgraded me, actually into one of the Calis suites, and eventually got lounge access but I was told this would be the last time.

To PhxFlyGuy:
We checked in at the main check in area of the hotel. We were actually kind of early too. No later than 11:00am. No problem, showed the HH Diamond Card and the CSR started checking what suites were available. Found one a few seconds later and told us it was ready. Handed us the Gold keys and we were off. She even wrote down the times the lounge was available when I asked.
The people in the lounge were the ones who let it be known HH were no longer accepted into the lounge area at the end of the month. The staff there really know their stuff and they let it be known. I sensed a little bit of an attitude problem. There was no reason for her to even mention HH to me since it was at least 12 days before the end of the program. I didn't let it bother me although I could give attitude right back if need be. However, I was in Vegas and nothing bothers me there.
Good luck with your upcoming stay. Let me know what happens and say you got the email stating the HH ending the end of the month if they give you a hard time. I was all prepared to go that route if I had to.

Checked in around 6pm. I handed the woman my Gold Card. She said the benefit was no longer valid. I told her about the "mixup," and that Paris had been honoring the upgrade benefit and I would take care of the Hilton side (crediting the points). She checked with the front desk manager, returned and provided us with keys to a suite.
As gold I did not request/expect lounge access.
Ah, the end of an era...Thanks to FT for making this known to me.

Stayed here 6/22 to 6/23 and got upgraded to a suite and lounge access.
Since I was a "casino guest" I am not sure if what I got was HHonors or otherwise.
Will continue stay here since its FOC but will miss the Hilton stay/points/miles
which was a "jackpot" on every visit.

I was at Paris on Wednesday night (June 23). I am a HHonors Diamond and was upgraded to Calis suite and was given lounge access. I had to push a little bit but in the end they did give me the benefits. I am in LV weekly and have given Paris quite a bit of business. I will miss them, but I am moving on. Gotta earn those points!

Stayed at the Flamingo July 7- 11th and they ugraded by to a slightly bigger room (27th floor) and when I faxed my folio in to HH, the points posted in two days. I wonder how long they are going to give out points for stays?

My guess is until someone notices that they're still doing it, not supposed to be doing it, and stops. ;)

If you tell them you will continue to patronize the hotel if they upgrade/offer benefits they may just do it on an individual basis. I am not in LAS enough probably to be the first one to test this, but it would be interesting if they just told you to take your business elsewhere. Remember despite whatever might be the published rule the hotel can negotiate something different for you or your company if they want too.
