I'm taking my first trip to Germany and I have absolutely no idea where anything is, where to stay etc.. I currently have a reservation at the Marriot since I have status there but I'm thinking about maybe the Hilton instead since they have a pretty comparable rate. Trip is a mix of business and me wanting to look around since I've never been there before, and I don't have to worry about transportation for the business related stuff. Only the things I do on my own. I'm sure the rooms and facilities are probably pretty comparable so from a location standpoint, is the Hilton significantly better? Thanks

I never stayed at any of the hotels, but I know Frankfurt and both hotels well.
I would stay at the Hilton. Nice, central location .. many restaurants, Alte Oper, other places ... nearby.
Mariott is nice too, however, location a little remote, near Messe (fair). Still you could walk to "Bockenheim Area"; University, museum ...

Having stayed at both, I would go for the Hilton.
The rooms are a bit larger and better appointed, the atrium is marvelous, the location is better for wandering around the center city (or access from the subway), and if you can get upgraded to one of the corner suites with glass sides, the view is unbelievable!

The FRA Hilton opened just about 2 years ago, so I liked the new rooms with the latest designs/ ammenities. The cental location in the middle of the city has many shops and restaurants just out the door/around the corner. Overall it is preferrable to the Marriott.
But the place is quite pricey, especially during trade fairs. Depending on your budget a lower-priced option is often the Mainz City Hilton (located in central Mainz) sometimes the Mainz Hilton (located at the Rhine river). Mainz itself is about a 30 min train ride from FRA.

I concur - go with the Hilton, unless you are a Priceline user and get the Marriott (avaiable there for ~ 50 bucks per night + tax) on the cheap.
Definitely, the Hilton. Newer and very convenient location. Easy walk to the ped zone and Bahn lines.

;) you can become a hilton hhonors member and get both points and miles for a stay, but with marriott you can either get points or miles.

For location the Hilton is definitely the better choice if this is a leisure trip.
The Marriott is near Messe. While it is easy to reach the main station and Bockenheim (which has some nice cafes/bars/restaurants) from there, the location of the Hilton is pretty much in the middle of everything. You can reach any area of Frankfurt easily. Shopping, relaxing, the museums, and most of the night life is just a few minutes away.
