Anybody know how long it's taking to get Mileage Plus Visa? I thought that applying on line would give instant approval, but got message that it could take up to 30 days. I need the bonus miles before July.

I got mine in a little over a week, I think, but then I was already a cardmember with First USA/BankOne, and I don't know if that speeds it up.

Meanwhile, the official fine print says bonus miles take 6 to 8 weeks to post, and it's unclear exactly from when. I waited a couple weeks before I made my first purchase, but the statement has posted, my REGULAR miles from the statement have posted (as of a week or two ago), but still no bonus miles yet. If they count the 6 to 8 weeks from the first statement (I don't know if they do), that could actually be 12+ weeks from your application, while you only have 11ish weeks before July 1 at this point.

My experience was similar. I think it was a good 8-10 weeks, maybe more, before the bonus miles posted (counting from the time of signing up that is). So getting those miles by early July could be iffy. Worth a shot certainly but not guaranteed to be there by then.

I see bonus miles are credited after your first payment is made. You might want to make a payment ASAP....as soon as you get a card and number...do the on line thing for $10 or so......

I've gotten the bonus to post :) within 2 weeks by using the card the same day received. Also, posted payment as soon as the charge hit the account.

I applied for the card in early February. In mid-March I got a phone call from BankOne asking me to confirm some information. After that it was about two weeks till I received the card (late March). I got my discount certificates in early April. Since I just posted my first payment last week, no word on when the bonus miles will be awarded.

Wonder of wonders--the bonus miles posted the same day as the miles from my first statement.

Me too! The bonus miles were posted in five days after my first billing statement.

I recently applied for the card too. I was shocked to see that the application process would take up to 30 days. I figured in these days of instant credit approval that I would find out right away--not in one month. I guess I'll have to wait and see...
