I've come across some interesting hardware / software to help me keep motivated when I jog or bike while traveling. On the hardware side, I've gotten a Garmin Forerunner 201 GPS (http://www.garmin.com/products/forerunner201/) -- this is a small GPS that straps onto your wrist, gives information on current pace, distance traveled, , automatically sets laps at distances you configure, alerts when going too fast/slow and it will even help you find your way back to the hotel using the same route you used on the way out.
The Forerunner stores several years worth of workouts and lets you view statistics for laps, days, weeks or even months!
Then I also found a website called Endless Pursuit (http://www.endlesspursuit.com/). This site lets you upload the data from a Garmin or Magellin GPS and display your track on a topo or USGS aerial map. It also takes the GPS data and computes huge amounts of statistics. I could describe the whole thing, but it's easier to let you see two recent workouts I have done.
