Hilton HHonors - I'm at the new Hampton Inn in Hurst, TX (Ft Worth)

This is a 2 month old hotel and everything about it is exactly what I read in USA Today about Hampton's future improvements. The lobby is very spacious and comfortable, the bed is about 3 feet off the ground and VERY comfortable. The king upgrade room has a hideaway bed with a decently comfortable mattress for the sofa. And of course, high speed internet. The desk clerks were very helpful in getting me the diamond upgrade.

If you're around this area, I'd strongly recommend checking it out. With my AAA discount, it was $70.15, after taxes, per night.

I stayed at one of the new Hampton Inns in Ruston, LA and I was also very impressed. It had an upscale look throughout the lobby and the guest room. Nice to see that they didn't increase their prices as they improved ammenities! Do you know if there are plans to renovate all of the HIs or is the new appearance only for brand new hotels?

It might sound like beating a dead horse that I'm quoting that USAToday article so much, but if I recall, they did say that most HI's are supposed to be renovted like this by December of this year.

A tiny thing in the room, but something I remember - they have a new alarm clock. On top, they have 5 buttons. Each one has the name of a different genre of music on it. So rather than having to tune, they simply list the most popular of each genre and have it auto-dial to that radio station. The alarm clock is incredibly simple to set now. It's kinda like a nice little new gadget.

Oh, and I just noticed you're an OU fan. Very nice. I graduated from there in 2002.

Well, the whole idea behind things like the alarm clock is to make it as close to complete idiot proof as possible. So they pretty much did anything and everything to simple components such as the alarm clock to make the room less of a hassle.

Many of the Hampton Inns that I've stayed in during the past couple of months have been remodeled and are very nice. I missed the article, but am very pleased with the results.

The Fairfield Inn seems to be doing similar upgrades. They're finally doing away with that horrible mattress!
