Starwood Preferred Guest - Here Comes The Four Points' "Four Comfort Bed"
I'm at the Four Points LAX right now and logging on to their hi-speed defaulted me to their new property web site, where they mention that by this Summer they will have installed new "Four Comfort Beds."
Providing a restful night sleep is the essence of hotel hospitality and Four Points by Sheraton LAX is pleased to announce that by summer 2004 all of our Starwood Preferred Guest Rooms will feature the Four Comfort Bed.
Sweet dreams are a given after guests climb into our Sealy Posturepedic® Plush Top mattress stacked with down pillows and crisp 200 thread count cotton sheets. Add the generously padded comforter and you might find yourself spending more time than expected in your room.
Don't know if this is a brand-wide program, a beta test, or just something this particular property has come up with, but I hadn't heard of it before. See:

Cool. Maybe this is the bed for un-employed folks like me who can't afford to spring for the W or Westin beds?

My $ says it's property specific. It's a nice idea to keep up with the "Big Brothers" in S/wood.

Boy, I hope this goes system-wide! It will change everything for me at this level of property. I don't stay at them often, mostly because of the hard, uncomfortable beds with sand paper sheets that don't fit the bed. This would be huge.

Interesting they chose the "Flagship" Property of the 4 Points chain for the test. Should be interesting.
Makes me want to fly to LAX to try out the bed! ;)

I second this. Would be a huge thing!

Catman! The LAX Four Points is great but IMO, the FP in SYD Darling Harbor is my idea of a FP Flagship! ^
I got to agree, 4 PTS LAX is NO WAY the Flagship of the chain. I've been to many that put it to shame, which IMHO isnt hard to do. It reminds me of a fancy Ramada at best.
The 4 PTS in York,Pa - Somerset,NJ - Sunnyvale,Ca - Wash,DC- even Fullerton,Ca are much better.
I'm not really sure what it means to be a property's flagship. I'm pretty sure it's not the same as 'best'.
Starwood refers (http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/040407/75386_1.html) to the Sheraton New York Hotel & Towers as the flagship of the Sheraton brand. Even post-renovation I doubt folks here would say it is the best Sheraton property in the world.
No question the Sheraton LAX is a good solid hotel, a Four Points worth choosing, and an excellent value. And its certainly a high profile property, I'd think. It may well be the flagship, if such a moniker has been bestowed upon a Four Points.
I'd guess that any Starwood flagship is likely to be in the Continental US, perhaps the only knock against Darling Harbor receiving such a designation (though that property has gotten some veyr positive reviews here).

Leaving aside SPG benefits, the Heavenley Bed and Sheration Sweet Sleeper are my 2 main reasons for choosing Starwood brands. They are both fantastic products. It would seem a logical step to extend this to the 4 Points brand.
And I have to say, I thought the 4Points LAX was very average indeed.

NO down pillows, please. The 4 Points was the last safe place in the Starwood chain for a guest sensitive to down. And once the pillows have been on the bed, it doesn't help to just remove them. Allergens remain.
Any other sufferers out there?

Isn't it amazing that it has taken this long for a major hotel chain to figure out that for so many people, when it comes to hotels, it's all about the bed? When it comes down to it, that's truly what you are paying for. I've always been surprised that no major mid-priced brands used that feature to truly differentiate themselves. How great for us that it is Starwood that has figured it out!
I know these investments are substantial. I really hope the strategy pays off. I know I'll be voting with my $$$ :)

I couldn't have said it any better. I decided to no longer stay at Four Points for this very reason. It would do a complete 180 on my Four Points outlook if they had a decent bed where at the least the sheets fit and didn't come off the bed as you pulled back the bedspread!
