California - Surely there's *something* to talk about.
I know there are a few of us here in SAN; 6 months between posts seems excessive. I know the forum has been a little bit buried, whcih is why I tended not to frequent it, but the new organization, and the subscribe-to-forum features should make that a little easier.
I'll volunteer some bio; perhaps that will spark some real content:
I live and work halfway between SAN and CLD; fly mostly AA, so since they pulled out of CLD I use SAN 99.44% of the time.
AA PLT for the last couple of years; fell back to gold after a light travel year last year, and WN CP member as well (can't beat the Bay Area (OAK, SJC) service from here.) QP ("Qantas Pub") member for the Admiral's Club privileges.
Use a car service for most multi-day travel; park at Laurel for most <=2 day travel.
The Taco Bell airside in 1 used to be a guilty pleasure, but the whatever-it-is that took it over is AWFUL.

Jus found the thread, assume late is better than never.
That taco place looks so bad I've never even tried it. And I'll eat tacos almost anywhere.

Actually, now they're selling "Uno" pizzas; not too bad.
Dont forget you can actually go to the yoghurt stand and order stuff from the other side; they'll go get it for you and you avoid the long line that forms on the "real food" side.

I found the thread looking for CLD.
I will go to CLD in Jan 05 for the marathon and could not believe how much more expensive it is to go to CLD than to SAN.
That is just too bad.
Because do not tell me that the cost of LAX-CLD should be more than LAX-SAN.
So I will fly to CLD and then take public transportation to CLD.
Ticket already booked on UA : YYZ-LAX-SAN-LAX-SFO-YYZ
Will do a mini MR at the same time :D

That's the Carlsbad Marathon, formerly the San Diego Marathon? CLD is about 25 miles north of San Diego. Public transportation is not really an option, but Mr. lili says he is willing to meet, greet, and transport a fellow marathoner. He's an older runner, having done Boston twice, London once, the Dipsea as an invitational and SD and SD Rock and Roll numerous times, so he understands your time, diet and travel constraints. Email him at nickruns_a_gmail.com and mention his wife (Pat) and FT if you're interested.
You are right, flying in and out of CLD is close to impossible. Lived here for years and never managed it. It has to do with passenger load - with no flights, passengers are infrequent. Duh. Seriously, LA-SFO to San Diego is where the connecting flights and facilities are.
San Diego is at the bottom western corner of the US - not a good location for flights to or from anywhere. I'm trying to get a decent flight to Vancouver BC and there is nothing that doesn't involve half the flight on regional jets and arriving in SAN at 10 pm.
Let us know if we can help.

Thanks a lot for the offer. Very FT spirit ^
I will e-mail him when I come back from San Diego this weekend.
Very quick trip. Leaving from BUF tomorrow morning and flying out Sunday night.
Now to go to YVR, if you take UA/AC with SAN-SFO-YVR, there is no RJ.

Thanks. I'll work on that UA flight which would be my FF choice of miles. Price constaints: RJ? rent a car? use miles? or pay more? I'm working on -200-300 RT so don't want to use miles. AA, AS, Delta, UA, AA, yikes! the options.
Anyway one or both us us are up for the airport to marathon transporation and return, just email specifics.
