Just went to pay my Amex Starwood account online and noticed a new feature. It's new to me anyway, since I haven't been to the payment site since early March nor have I seen a post in this thread on it.
You can now schedule your payment anywhere from today to the payment due date. In my case I could schedule in the range of today up to Wednesday April 14. I'm soooo glad AMEX added this new feature. Now, when I leave for HNL next month, I can schedule my payment before I leave and not have to worry about it while I'm sipping a cool drink on the beach. ;)

Used it earlier this week for my Delta AMEX and worked fine. Will serve to reduce worry in the future when traveling.

Seems a bit bogus on my Centurion Card account. They only let me schedule payment up to an arbitrary due date, which is about midway through the billing cycle. Since I like to pay just before the cycle ends, this is not helpful.

My DL SM AMEX give me the option to pay by phone including collect phonecalls to AMEX from a non-USA location, or by computer on the web site. Also I have stopped into AMEX office in Venice Italy & asked for my current balance & she called the USA #, gave the phone to listen to balance & I told it to pay it off, tho it wasn't the due date. Just a test of a foreign payment & it went thru immediately.

Sorry if this has been addressed.

I 'm tech challenged with the new FT.

I'd greatly appreciate if someone could post links, info on the double points promo.

I know that the third party vendor requires a "processing fee" , But I figure with DOUBLE starwood points it may be worth it.

Could someone be gracious enough to post links and outline the whole process, like is it targeted, do you need to preregister? Thanks a lot.

This new Amex feature only lets you set payment on the so called due due date for their charge card products (green, plat, centurion, etc) which is way before charge card cycle ends. Most amex old timers like to pay the day or days before statement cycles since we know this is not considered late. Now amex is trying to making the payment due date earlier and earlier. I will drop this product and try the stratus rewards card if that is what it takes. Wake up amex even dinners is not pulling this excrement!

I just went to the Amex Starwood site. While it looks like you can schedule one payment for a future date, you still cannot have Amex make an automatic full payment for the full bill on a specific date. Citibank will let you do that on its credit cards, but apparently Amex still will not. Too bad.

I don't understand. Can't you just put the full bill amount in the "Pay Another Amount" field and schedule it for a specific date? Isn't that what you want to do?

True. An interesting development in the UK market (not sure if this is offered elsewhere, yet) is the introduction of FlexSelect. Once you've signed up any charge over GBP 200 gets assigned against a credit allocation up to your pre-defined limit (ie credit rather than charge). You then have the choice to pay the bill in full, as before, or leave some of it on credit to pay off later, thus accruing interest (at a whopping APR of 19.1%)

What interests me more is what cut-off point will be used for the purposes of determining when you've used the credit facility. If, as I suspect, it's the due by date, rather than the later end of billing cycle then those of us who have signed up for FlexSelect may be in for a nasty shock.

Yes you can. I simply clicked the button for the full amount and picked a date that's just before the due date. Had no problems.

There is something, however, that Amex doesn't do yet - autopay. Many Visa cards have this feature. One time you indicate you want to pay your balance on the same date each month and the money is automatically deducted. You never have to worry about paying a bill again.
