As a last resort, if I can't find a resolution to award redemption for my trip, is there any way to transfer hhonors points to starwood spg? I know it end up in horrible exchange rate, but at least I can use it for one of the hotel on my trip.

Thanks!

A coupon connection trade of a free night for a free night (or something of the sort) might make more sense.

Is there a good way? No.

Is there a bad way? Yes. HH->AA->DC->SPG. Roughly 22 HH points will yield 1 SPG point if you do it that way.

There is a slightly better route: HH --> Amtrak, then use Amtrak points to claim Starwood rewards. While not giving you SPG points per se, the effective exchange rate is about 18 HH points per 1 SPG point if Amtrak points are redeemed for Category 4 Starwood property. Still

amoeba -- You were getting pretty good advices by BlondeBomber, SanDiego1K and others in the thread you have started on HH's availability problems (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=311541). I would recommend following those suggestions before resorting to using any of the atrocious exchange rates. Also, keep in mind that SPG award availability is limited to "standard" rooms only (and "standard" more and more often seems to be very narrowly defined by individual properties); when "standard" rooms are sold out, you won't be able to use an award even as plenty of other room types are available for revenue reservations.

Whatever you decide to do, good luck, and enjoy your trip!

Thanks a lot for all your help! I've been following the leads as suggested in the other threads. Just wanted to see what I can do if I do run into a desperation situation :)

Expecting a baby so this may be the last major trip for a long while. Wanted to use up all my hotel program points while I'm still sane.

Congratulations on the baby! :) We had our first 6 months ago.

Hang on to some of those points for post-baby. We don't do extravagant resort stays anymore (and probably won't for a couple of years), but we are using our points now more than ever. We now find ourselves doing a lot of short weekend trips to visit family and such. Since having a baby makes a hotel with kitchen and separate living room so much more valuable, we've been shunning Priceline and using hotel points for Residence Inns (and Homewoods, and similar...) quite a bit. It isn't max bang-for-buck, but it isn't bad either.
