Several weeks ago, I booked a prepaid stay at the Sheraton Gateway ATL for $69 + 12% tax for a total of $77.28.

The hotel finally got around to posting the charge to my Amex yesterday. Except they posted a charge for $7728.00!!!

I'm still waiting for a response to the voicemail I left for the accounting department.

Two phone calls later, I have been promised a refund (which has yet to post to my Amex) and 4000 points for my troubles.

I couldn't find any links to a specific article, but I vaguely recall a hotel having some accounting problems and accidentally moving the decimal point to the right a couple notches. Didn't this also recently happen in a Wal-mart or something?

I guess you still have your receipt showing the proper charges? Maybe they'll credit your charge card the difference but still give you points for a $7728 stay. :)

15 years ago my father and I upgraded on Korean Air from Coach to First for a flight from HKG to TPE. The charge was supposed to be about $140, but he got charged $14,000, and it took a while to fix.
