Starwood Preferred Guest - Who here was targeted for the Double/Double promo?

If you received the Double/Double promo through email, please sound off.

Do you already have status? If so, what status are you? Do routinely stay at Starwood hotels?

I'm curious.

My wife received it. She was a Gold (downgraded rom Plat). When she received it, she had 4 stays for 2004. Today her account was credited with her 26th stay. So, getting the Double Double really brought in business for starwood :)

I was was dropped from plat to gold in March. I received the offer via email on 2/18 and was accepted 2/19. After returning home Friday I have 26 stays & 32 nights and am plat again. :D

I was downgraded to Gold, but received the promo. by this Saturday I will have 22 credited stays/44 Nights, and will pick up the other 2 nights/stays soon. All of this was done in about 2.5 weeks.

I am very appreciative of this promo, and it will be nice to have the status throught 2/06.

I probably got it because it looked like I wasn't going to have enough stays to retain Gold. What the system didn't realise is that my Gold status comes from my Plat Amex so I didn't actually need to hit the 10 stays anyway! I used this promo in Japan last week - four nights at GBP 200 per night - and actually stayed 1 night at Heathrow before the flight to trigger it.

I also lost my Gold status and was targeted for this promo. (I dropped to "Preferred Plus," which you can get just from AAA membership or by having a Starwood Amex card, apparently).

I'm sleeping my way to the top again, but on an accelerated schedule! Reinstated my Gold status with just five inexpensive weekend one-night stands.

I'm on my way to Plat, now having completed eight stays, with just five to go by the end of April. :)

I received the spend $4500 and get free upgrades...when I tried to register for the double promo its said I had already been registered for the $4500. :confused:

I too was recently downgraded from Gold to Preferred Plus and have been offered the promo. Had a stay in late January.

I received the promo. I was platinum last year but had only a couple of stays. I was dropped to Gold for this year (one level drop rule being used).

I also was targeted for the promo. Was Gold but dropped to Preferred Plus March 1 because I didn't have 10 stays in 2003. I have now requalified for Gold, and should make Platinum before the promo period is over.

Common thread seems to be people who were dropping a level (or who appeared to be dropping a level).

My wife received this promo. She was a Gold in 2003 but did not re-qualify. She may have 4 or 5 stays this year, so she should get back to Gold. However, the promo will not cause her to move any business to Starwood that would've gone elsewhere. She doesn't worry about such things, no matter how much I've tried to convince her. :)

Similar situation for me: I dropped temporarily from Gold to Preferred, got the offer, and am now Gold again---and thinking of trying for Plat this year!

Seems to be a concensus most who got this -- as I did -- had dropped a tier in status from previous year. This was my case, from Plat to Gold.

Same here. Platinum last year; Gold now. Only one paid stay and one award stay at Starwood properties last year.

I had a few *wood stays in 2003 but not enough to matter . Gold since I signed up. Comp'd to PLT at the time I signed up for the Double-Double promo, now 18 stay credits with 4 more stays (8 credits) planned in April, prior to the end of the D-D promo.

Same here. Plt last year, came up over gold but short this year.
Dropped to gold. DD puts me at 20 stays 28 days and 2 more next week

I wasn't Gold or Plat, but had a couple of 5 or 6 night stays. I got the promo and made at least enough for Gold for next year. It definitely changed my hotel preferences for the first quarter so I could make Gold. Plat will be a stretch.

I too was downgraded from Plat to Gold. DD so far posted and have gained to 16 stays. Good promo and logic from Starwood.
