MilesBuzz! - Who's Doc?View Full Version : Who's Doc? 0524 Aug 23, 00, 6:47 pm Who's "Doc", and where does he find the time to keep all of us so marvelously well-infored? cigarman Aug 23, 00, 6:48 pm Everyone knows "DOC" was one of the seven dwarfs! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif [This message has been edited by cigarman (edited 08-23-2000).] Eugene Aug 23, 00, 6:55 pm 0524 - Doc has an e-mail address listed in his profile. Your question will be better addressed if you direct it to Doc directly, and not on this Board. Just my $.02 worth... LorettaG Aug 23, 00, 9:06 pm You deserve a refund of your 2 cents doc Aug 23, 00, 9:12 pm http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif ozstamps Aug 23, 00, 9:37 pm Hi 0524 .. Doc provides an enormous resource to users and readers of FlyerTalk. As far as I am aware he does it for no fee, but just enjoys assisting others here with posting all kinds of airline and travel related information. There are few if any boards on FlyerTalk where Doc has not added news pieces, often very regularly. There is not much happens in the airline related world that is not posted on these boards by DOC. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif ------------------ ~ Glen ~ belle3388 Aug 23, 00, 10:10 pm doc should go to the millionaire show, or did he already? please mention us to regis, doc! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif biff Aug 23, 00, 10:13 pm I posed this question publicly before (being quite positive about Doc's contributions) and asked if he got paid by FlyerTalk. He said "Of course" but he was leaving the job to spend more time with family. That hasn't happened (to all our benefit). One of the replies in the other thread suggested Doc was really several people. So let's come clean here Doc: did your flight home get cancelled, do you have 10 coworkers named Doc, are you Randy Peterson in disguise? RichG Aug 23, 00, 10:17 pm Doc was Alexander Graham Bell's assistant. ...Also Sherlock Holmes'. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif [This message has been edited by RichG (edited 08-23-2000).] Mvic Aug 23, 00, 11:05 pm FT's better half http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif which is appropriate as at least 50% of the reason I frequent FT are Doc's excellent contributions. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif ozstamps Aug 23, 00, 11:59 pm Good Doctors work hard, in the best interests of the community they live in. ------------------ ~ Glen ~ TravelLover Aug 24, 00, 12:56 am I thought he was Elmer Fudd (you know...What's up, Doc?) crankyusi Aug 24, 00, 1:36 am Thanks again for making this a great website Doc http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif SJC2ISP Aug 24, 00, 2:25 am How come doc is just a member and not an FT Evangelist? How do you get that honor?? bdschobel Aug 24, 00, 6:49 am Doc IS an FT Evangelist (see his post above). You get that great honor by posting 250 times. No charge! Bruce geo1004 Aug 24, 00, 7:04 am I thought doc worked on The Love Boat with Julie, Gopher, and Isaac? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/rolleyes.gif harold Aug 24, 00, 7:09 am And from what I can tell from one of Doc's posts in the trip report forum, Doc is a she, not a he. kokonutz Aug 24, 00, 7:22 am What a truly bizzare thread. I love it! burkey Aug 24, 00, 7:32 am yeah.... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/rolleyes.gif tofromord Aug 24, 00, 8:47 am Reminds me of an old knock knock (or was it Doc Doc)joke. Randy Petersen Aug 24, 00, 8:50 am Doc is not a she, so don't be reading anything into his post. I consider him one of the brighest people we have on the board and he has been an amazing keeper of past, present and future threads. I look forward to seeing more of Doc on FlyerTalk.....my 2¢. ozstamps Aug 24, 00, 8:53 am Hear, Hear! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif ------------------ ~ Glen ~ RKG Aug 24, 00, 10:08 am doc, I know we differ of the subject of NW, but, I really appreciate your contributions to the boards! Would you like somebody to rub your feet? dg1 Aug 24, 00, 10:10 am doc has been to several user meets so he's definitely a he and not just a computer http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif I'd like to add my appreciation for his posts.... excess is better! [This message has been edited by dg1 (edited 08-24-2000).] Steffo Aug 24, 00, 10:23 am I've got to chime in too. Thanks for the wealth of information that you share here Doc, and for looking up old threads that I and others are just too lazy to try to find with the arcane search engine. Maybe you don't use that--do you have all the threads memorized? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/eek.gif crews1 Aug 24, 00, 10:24 am Sincere thanks to Doc for adding so much value to these boards. SJC2ISP Aug 24, 00, 10:46 am Originally posted by bdschobel: Doc IS an FT Evangelist (see his post above). You get that great honor by posting 250 times. No charge! Bruce But his profile says he is a member though his posts say he is an Evangelist. I guess the doc is yet to earn the Profile software's respect. And that gets me wondering http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/confused.gif. How can people be so sure that doc is not a computer; the person others met could have been a humanoid, or another person bribed to impersonate doc by the ever powerful computer (perhaps a junior member being comped to an FT Evangelist in return) http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif. After all, the profile software knows something that we do not know; that is why it still lists doc as "just a member". (no offense meant to doc.. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif). JayBrian Aug 24, 00, 10:55 am I wonder if DOC is concerned about the 10 millenium issue at flyertalk. The bulletin board can only count posts up to 9999. When you post number 10,000 all your frequent flyer points expire. Jay http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif snake Aug 24, 00, 11:28 am doc has taken since May 1999 to accumulate slightly over 8,000 posts, while ozstamps has totaled over 2,000 since June 2000, who will reach 10,000 first? WHO CARES! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/rolleyes.gif ozstamps Aug 24, 00, 11:55 am Ah yes, more wisdom and useful advice for us all, and intelligent travel input from someone called SNAKE who tells us he lives under a rock, lists interests as "rodents, and other low life" and hides behind not posting an email address. He must have 15 computers and 10 newswires going simultaneously, but however he manages to accomplish the fine information gathering and postings that he does for FT, he does it extremely well, often with a touch of humor, frequently with much needed patience and tact.
