BKK Terminal 2. Gates 40-48 are under renovation. The new gates 50-58 have just opened.

As usual, when your flight lands, it does not necessary go to the right terminal to be parked. TG uses Terminal 1, but yet , when it arrived from KUL last week, it parked at Gate 52! And the new gates 50-58 are a loooong trek to even the immigration at T2, much less T1!

But upon departure, T2 Gates 50-58 have large holding areas... but as there are no 'individual' holding areas for each gate, you hear ALL the boarding annoucements for all the flights departing at that pier.

Yes, Guy Betsy, it is indeed a loooong walk to the immigration from the gates 50s. One good thing about taking TG into BKK in First is that there will be electric carts to take you to the immigration. Plus the immigrations can be processed at the diplomat counter.....So if carry-ons only, from the plane to the hotel car, sometimes it takes less than 10 minutes!!

What is it like making an international connection in BKK, arriving on TG (from KUL) and departing on SK (to CPH)? Both TG and SK use Terminal 1 (normally). Do you have to clear any immigration, customs or security check-points?

transpac, you might have already got an answer somewhere else... but...

No, you don't need to go through any immigration or customs. Security check-points are on the departure level, one each for a pier. You can go back and forth between the arrival and departure level. The connection counter is on the arrival level near Pier 5.
