Asia - Transfer from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2

I am flying into Terminal 1 at NRT on an international flight and connecting to another international flight departing from Terminal 2. I have 2.50 hours from scheduled arrival to scheduled departure.

1. Is 2.50 hours enough time for the connection?

2. I've read about the airside shuttle bus and that it is not very reliable. e.g. there may be long waits. Should I just go landside and take the landside shuttle bus? If so, is there a way to avoid paying a departure tax upon checking in for my flight at Terminal 2?

Thanks in advance for any tips!

1. More than enough.

2. The shuttle bus is fine. However, waits are unpredictable. Don't worry though, maximum wait time is around 30 minutes.

Good idea about going landside to landside though. Remember about immigration lines leaving and entering!

If I remember correctly, the departure tax is now included in the ticket price. I do not recall paying the Y2,650 PSFC upon departing NRT two months ago. This would alleviate the need to (re-?)pay the departure tax even if going landside.

Since the landside shuttle seems to come around only every 10-15 minutes, and immigration/emigration easily take 20 minutes, I would stick to the airside shuttle.

I don't know which carriers you will be flying. If it is a Star Alliance, you can take a Star Alliance bus from T1 to T2 airside.

The NRT departure tax (2,050 yen) is built into the ticket price, as monahos.

If you go through emmigration at T1 and check in landside at T2, then a check-in staff might ask you why. If this happens, just tell them you are not having any stopover and show the ticket. They will just fill out a form to waive the departure tax.

In short, you will not be paying any.

It also depends on what time you will be arriving, but landside can be easier. Afternoon, airside buses are very few, somehow. Premium passengers are also provided dedicated transportation by some carriers for airside transfers.

I will be arriving in the early afternoon at T1 on UA, then connecting on DL out of T2. As an arriving UA 1P on a Y fare, can I access the RCC or is it restricted to paxs departing on *A flights only?

I would like to take a shower if possible.
DL uses the JL executive lounge at T2 and I'm not sure if it has shower facilities.

Thanks all for your responses!

What is a good connecting time for AA -> NH? Is 75 minutes enough? If not I will go JL. (route is DFW-NRT-PEK)
