I purchased some bottles of wine to take back home. Does anyone know if I can check the wine in through security?

Being wine importers to Europe (from the Napa and Sonoma valley), we had, even after sep-11, no problem until recently (dec-2003), when they (international terminal) forced us to check-them in (saying that the glass could be used as a weapon).

Interesting question. I have not had trouble taking duty free purchases of spirits aboard at JFK or returing from Europe. I fly out of SFO, and so don't usually take bottle with me.

Let us know how it works out, Shorty Dog.

Turned out fine. You can check alcohol bottles through security as long as they are not open. I had 12 bottles and it did not phase the TSA people the least bit.
